It took me 3 years to make the perfect lemon merigue pie. Sometimes it works out well, sometimes it takes me a few tries to get it just right. what are you trying to make?

I made a dish I saw on the cooking network. It was very easy to make but it looked prettier than it tasted. It was shell pasta cooked with bread crumbs and prosuitto. Everytime I look up a new recipe, its not as delicious as I anticipate it to be. Its not my cooking.I have to get recipes that someone recommends.

Sometimes-YES! But sometimes I am pleasantly surprised!
Just recently I made shrimp with peppers and tomatoes over rice from a recipe book and couldn't believe how good it was! (patting myself on the back)
Before that I made beef noodle soup using the same recipe book and it really wasn't as special as I thought it would be judging from the picture! ( may be i screwed up)

Sometimes you need to jazz up the recipe and make it your own. Add some of your favorite spices or change a veggie or meat.

I changed a chicken pot pie recipe because I didn't have one of the main ingredients. My MIL was over that day because we had been out shopping together all day. I asked her if she wanted to join us for dinner with a warning that I was making a new recipe that night. It turned out great.Everyone had seconds and thirds. There was nothing left.

Chicken pot pie is a great dinner. You can use a frozen pie crust, frozen peas/carrots, canned gravy and cut up some strips of chicken and combine in the crust with some salt and pepper. It comes out delicious and easily re-heat.
Keep trying Sue- don't give up. It is just one recipe.
