In the interest of full disclosure... I was NOT one of those girls who thought about her wedding since she was 5. I didn't have a large looseleaf and a 'Wedding Scenario A ' ala Monica on FRIENDS. I never thought about it beyond 'Wow, when I meet the right person marriage will be awesome'.
HOWEVER, now that I'm gettting married ALL I can think about is my wedding. Everything becomes an idea, everyone I talk to I think 'Hmmm... should I invite them to the wedding?' Everytime I see a color, see flowers hear a song I think about how I will (or will not) incorporate it into my wedding day.
I work in a call center and when a customer calls to tell me they got married... I always tell them I just got engaged... I'm sure they don't care. I'm telling strangers about my wedding, y'all.
Please tell me I'm not alone... 22 months is a long time to think about one subject and I fear I might have wedding burn out before too long!

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
nope, you are NOT alone
FH declared a halt on all discussions of things wedding related around him a while ago because he was tired of hearing about weddings.
Now he is semi ok with it because I am working on starting a planning company, so he has to deal with it lol

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
We're on the same boat. I am truly obsessed, especially since I have pushed the limit to my arts and crafts skills. I literally get excited over paper samples that arrive in the mail. I now know the difference between 80lb paper and 110lb cardstock (who knew!!! ). I feel naked if I leave the house without some sort of bridal magazine or my planning book (I mean God forbid I get an idea while driving and can't write it down!) I told FH that if I could, I would seriously quit my job and plan our wedding full time!
Back to reality though...I really love this planning process but I do make it a concious effort to tend to other aspects of my life. And when talking with friends, I always make sure that I show them as much excitement about things that are going on with their lives and keep the wedding talk to a minumum. That's why I love this website, because only you ladies understand what it's like to have sleepless nights stressing over whether a dinner napkin should be pocketfold or a fan!

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
haha Im so glad im not alone ::sigh of relief:: my mom thinks im crazy that im already planning a wedding that its 2yrs away..but this stuff is so detalied that you have to start planning as soon as ur able. this my first wedding and the first of my friends or relatives in my generation to get married so everyone is clueless. Thank goodness for this website!!!!!!!!! And to add to the madness my FH deploys in Oct for 1yr and gets back when there is only 1yr left of planning and then possibly will have to go to Iraq again right after the wedding...AHHHHH!!!! So yeah this website is my best resource for wedding planning......And i see that i am not alone with this wedding obsession

I go through 'spurts' of obsession, but for the most part, I'd say I'm obsessed 70% of the time

I was one of those little girls. FH teases me that when he gave me the ring it was like finally letting me start a race or something! I just love planning!

Ok soo I really feel like the odd man out here! I dont think about the wedding all of the time. I actually feel like I have the major vendors booked and i dont want to think about another thing! I am happy and looking forward to the wedding- but I havent been consumed by it...and dont even think about it everyday! Whats my problem??

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
I would say Im obessed to a certain extent. I love looking at bridal magazines and have almost all major vendors booked except photographer/videographer. I dont do must research other than coming on this site about once a day. I feel that once next summer hits, I'll be tottally obessed since its closer.

I'm obsessed and FH likes to point that out to me. we had a convo about it last night cuz he says all i ever wanna talk about is the wedding. i'm all about planning ahead so i dont get stressed and he isnt which would explain the issue there

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
I'm definitely not obsessed...everyone's initial reply to my telling the date is, 'Wow, 2010, really? Well...the time will go fast...' I think the time is going incredibly slowly - and I hate looking at my wedding countdown! I have not booked anything except the RH. Waiting till July when school and work calm down a bit.
Do any of you get that shocked reaction when you tell people what year you're getting married?

Haha, so true! Not to mention someone recently said, 'Well, it IS far away, but as long as you get married before you're 30...' I then informed her that our date was 2 days AFTER my 30th birthday!

Haha! I'll be 35 at my wedding! At first it bothered me, but now I'm good with it, we'll have no debt from the wedding... it'll all come from the mortgage... haha.

Re: Do You Find Yourself Wedding Obessed?
And I will be lucky to have a mortgage by 35 with recent housing prices It just seemed like such a naive comment to make, considering how many of us are doing things later in life (compared to our parents' generation). And yet, getting married a little later (for us) has helped in that, going into debt for a wedding cannot be an option
