If you're invited, but can't come - what do ya do....

I do, always. And it's the same, whether I can be there or I can't be there.

BUT, I think I may be in the minority here.

We did get a lot of gifts from our No list but not all.

I do as well. Just because I can't go in person, I send my good wishes via gift. I don't think our guests will be that considerate but oh well.

yep, Usually I send a gift from the registry instead of $ though.

I usually do, but admittedly its not what I would spend if I actually attended--also I tend to give a gift, not send money.

i never used to give a gift if i didn't attend the wedding. i never realized you were supposed to until i started reading this site. honestly, the reason why i didn't go to a few weddings was BECAUSE i didn't have money to give. also, i did not like one couple and to this day am baffled as to why i was invited (maybe it was b/c they figured i'd send a gift?) i always sent a card, but no gift. now, i send a small check. i just don't understand why someone HAS to send a gift JUST BECAUSE he/she was invited somewhere. it does not make any sense to me.

I feel the same way. Never knew you should send a gift even if you can't attend.

I think it depends how close you are to the person...most of the time I do, but if I get an invitation and I am like why the hell am I invited to this thing, I usually don't since I think the person is just looking to bulk up the list for more gifts!

I do, but if I get invited to a wedding that I don't even know the person then I send a card. My second cousin is getting married in May in Middltown and I've actually met her twice..I don't know why she invited me. My guess is, if you don't know my husband's name then we're not close enough to be invited to your wedding.

Yes, but I usually send something off the registry instead of a monetary gift.

I always give a gift but if I don't attend a wedding, its usually a bit smaller than if I did attend.
