Do you have friends that are jealous of things you do?? or are you jealous of others?

I have a friend who is jealous of me building a house, since she has a husband and a child and still lives with her parents. I somethimes get the feeling that she is not as excited for me as my other friends are. I try to not talk about it as much to her, but I feel that is not fair.

I know that I am a very jealous person myself, like i am jelaous my brother has a child. I do not want a child right now, but I am jealous that he is at a point in his life where he feels ready for children. But I am sooooooo happy for him at the same time.

Does anyone feel this way too, or am I just nuts!!!

I am jealous that my parents seem to favor my brother and his girlfriend. DH and I offered to take my parents out to dinner. They repeatedly came up with excuses saying they were busy, tired...etc. Well I found out that after we asked them out to dinner they accepted an invite from my brother and his girlfriend.

ETA: It wasn't just this one instance, there have been others that have caused us to wonder...hmmm???

I've had similar experiences!

I'm jealous of my thin and athletic friends... they make it look so EASY.

I'm not jealous of anyone ever.. I don't have a jealous bone in my body, but I have had very jealous people in my life, luckily they are no longer in my life, but it's horrible. esp. those former friends who want to be you.. yack.. that's the worse..

I had a friend that I had to sever ties with b/c of her jealousy....It was awful and the things she was saying/doing were so sad.

I am generally not a jealous person at all, but I will admit that I have my moments....
Lately I have been jealous of everyone that owns a home...lol, but I know my time will come....SOON!

I have a friend with similiar circumstances. She has always been very jealous of my relationship, my life, etc. and has made damaging remarks, etc. to the point where I cut her off. Not that my life/relationship was so great, but it seems better than whatever she had going on. I actually feel bad for her..

I am a very jealous person when it comes to my dh but not with my friends usually.

My EX best friend..hence the ex..was a very jealous person! She could not stand seeing someone else happy but when it was her turn to be happy, she expected everyone to jump on the bandwagon. When she got married, she loved being the center of attention which is fine but afterwards she couldnt handle anyone else being happy. When it was my turn, she picked fights with me over anything and everything! She hated to hear the things I was going through and thrived on the bad things that I was going through. When she had her babies, she expected everyone to be overjoyed which I was constantly for her but whenever I talked about having children, she would find reasons to try to get me not to.

In the end, we had a big blowout and never spoke again. I posted about it in the past and was told by many that she was a toxic friend..everyone was so right! I am so much better off not having her in my life and I am happy that I know this now.

I think everyone is jealous at some point or another, of different things in peoples lives and imo a little bit of jealousy is healthy but not to the extent in which i just mentioned.

Me too.

While I am not insanely jealous, I do have my moments where I can get jealous. There has to be good reason though

I think it's contingent on what's going on in peoples lives - if things are going good for them, then they are happy for you, but if things are not good - FORGET IT!

When I was getting married, a lot of the women I know couldn't stand to see my happiness. A lot of them were so jealous, they could barely contain themselves! As a matter of fact, I have lost friendships and have become very guarded/cautious about some that are still existing b/c of how they behaved - it really hurt me. Now that some of them are blossoming and their lives are much better than it was then, they now want YOU to be ecstatic for them and celebrate in their joy. It makes me laugh! Suddenly they feel self righteous walking around saying everyone is envious of their life, or so they want to believe!

With all that being said, I think it's normal for people to be jealous when another person gets married, buys a house, goes on a luxurious vacation, get a big break, get pregnant, etc, etc. If the people around you are not happy at that moment, they are going to be jealous. Basically, if it's something the person wants badly and can't have it at the moment and you have it.... jealousy is inevitable!

I can understand that, but then there are some that become so competitive that it destroys the friendship! So many has tried to compete with me, only to get to the finish line and be more unhappy than they were prior to the 'competition!' MY moto is, do it for yourself, NOT for anyone else b/c you have to live with it in the end!

We all get a little jealous from time to time, but when it gets competitive it can get UGLY!!

I have always thought that jealousy is one of THE worst feelings in the world - next to loneliness and grief.

Jealous of family and friends, nope. I live my life they way I want to live it and couldn't be HAPPIER!!! If family and friends of mine have something good going on in their life, I would be nothing but happy for them, not jealous! Some people think others are jealous of them out of insecurities and selfishness. What can ya do...

I can be a jealous person. My BF is in LV and is living it up...going on vacations and going to spas. I tell her all the time i am jealous but not in that 'bad' jealous way. I wish i could be doing the things she is (or at least with her) but i have to save for a wedding. When i think of what i am saving for ...i am thankful and the jealous part of me fades.

Another friend of mine is the jealous type and openly admits how upsetting my wedding is for her. And this makes me very sad. It stops me from sharing all the details and involving her in the planning...which is very hard since she is in my BP. I am second guessing having asked her. She really excludes herself and it is very obvious and starting to really annoy me.

I have to say that I am soooo not jealous. I had a rough childhood(death of family members) and so I guess it taught me to appreciate the little things. I def know of two people in my life that are jealous of me. One is always trying to duplicate everything I do and the other gets mad when any attention is given to me at all. I think it's so sad to be like that and must lead to so many missed opportunities to be happy !!

I think jealousy is a normal human thing. I absolutely get jealous.

I try to remember that there will always be people better off than me, and worse off than me, no matter what my position in life. If I am thin, there is always someone thinner (and fatter). If I get envious over my friends new house, there is probably someone somewhere envious of my little one bedroom condo with a patio.

It helps me keep things in prespective.
