Do you have to give a speech at your bridal shower

I hired an associate to coordinate my wedding. She then, told me that when ever I have my bridal shower to make a speech telling people, that she is my coordinator? I think it is a little silly!!!!

I mean on the day of the wedding she will be there instructing people about where to go, stand....etc.....

Personally I think it's a little silly too IMO.
At my bridal shower after I finished opening up all my gifts, I just thanked everyone for coming and for their generous gifts and I also thanks my Mom and MIL for throwing me such a great party..just keep it short and sweet.

That is silly. You thank the people for coming and who ever gave you the shower. She is not suppose to be in the spot light it is your day.

My MOH's (my sisters) gave a toast at mine and I also did the same as junebride04 'after I finished opening up all my gifts, I just thanked everyone for coming and for their generous gifts and I also thanks my Mom for throwing me such a great party..just keep it short and sweet.'
