Do you have to have a bridemaids luncheon?

Do you have to have a bridemaids luncheon?

I was just checking out my 'Wedding Checklist' on WeddingChannel.com and it says- bridesmaids luncheon..

I already had my BMs over for brunch- when I first asked them.

My wedding is a Sat night- and I am doing pics before.. and my hair/make-up stylist is arriving at my hotel at 12 30 and they 'need 3 hours to work on me'...

Can I just have food in the bridal suite? Not all girls will be getting ready with me.

Its really not necessary. Its more like a small gathering of you the girls to thank them for being in the party. That is usually when you give them their gifts. 3 out of my six girls are OOT, plus its defintely not in my budget, so I'll be handing the gifts out at the rehearsal dinner.

I was always planning on doing that at the RD anyway..

I am feeding people three times that weekend- don't need a 4th!

I am thinking that we will have a bridal-party party for everyone so we can give them their gifts, and just have a blast the week before the wedding.

I think having a rehersal dinner for the whole bridal party is fine

I think its a nice idea, but not necessary. I'm not having a luncheon, because my BM are almost all OOT, and I won't have a chance to take them all out together.

i dont think its a must i did it because i love to cook and just had it at my place and cooked a great meal and had a champagne punch and did the victorian cake charms and give them there gifts. some of my girls did a lot for me and i wanted to give them a little something extra just for them

I wanted too but it was just too hard to get them to all agree on a date and then time ran out. So i bought each girl a mani and pedi as a thanks

I just had some of my bridesmaids over one day for fondue and wine.. It turned out pretty good!! We just didn't have the money to take 9 girls out for food and drinks, although i would've loved to!!

I'm taking them to a spa, just so they all get to know each other. Part of their BM gift.

I already had everyone over for brunch-- I am really asking more about during the wedding weekend.

Your plan sounds fine.

Here was our weekend itinerary:

Saturday AM: spa for manis and pedis- (I treated- there were only 2). Bagels, OJ and coffee were served. I considered this 'the BM luncheon.'

Saturday afternoon: free time for all

Saturday PM: rehearsal dinner (w/o the rehearsal)

Sunday AM (early): hair and make-up at my parents house (my grandmother even joined in!) My dad served a light breakfast.

Sunday AM (11:30): ceremony

I hope this helps. Happy planning

i want to but it is so hard getting all my BM together and only 1 of them lives really far away and I dont want her to feel left out if we do someting like that! So i don't think I am going to!

It is not necessary...I am going to do a bridesmaid dinner in a couple of weeks so that all of my bridesmaids get to know one another & do not feel awkward the day of the wedding....so i am really doing it for a comfort thing
