Do you have to take pre cana at the church your getting married in?
Only because My priest told us that they only do it twice a year and the spring session is already full!!! And I already missed the fall one.What do I do?

I am sure they would let you do it elsewhere. MY FH and I live in MD but are getting married at my childhood parish on LI. They told us to do our pre cana class in MD, since it was more convenient. I think we just have to show them a certificate saying we completed it (the church in MD will give us that).

You can take it anywhere. My church gave us a listing from the diocese of others we could have taken. They probably have the same thing.

My church doesn't offer precana at all! So don't worry about it. They gave us a listing and we just picked a church that is the closest to us.

We did ours in Douglaston at the Immaculate Conception Center. They had a LOT of Saturday's there.

yea you can definately do it at another parish..my brother is doing it in brooklyn and our church is in baldwin

Is that St Pat's in Smithtown? I'm getting married at the one there. They told us that if we can't take it there, then we have to go through the diocese. The bad thing about that is that the price for Precana through the church is $75, the price through the diocese varies, starting at $250.
