- Valet - Coat check (if applicable) - bathroom attendants
And should you also tip the bartenders and waiters? AHHH this is driving me crazy!!

Re: Do you have to tip...
Can't we just leave it up to the guests? lol

Re: Do you have to tip...
we didn't have a coat check, valet or bathroom attendants but we did tip the bartenders $100 since they were not included in the general $4-$7pp tip we left for the staff

Re: Do you have to tip...
I am not tipping vallet or the bartenders because guests ALWAYS tip regardless if you covered. So I'm not going to bother.
I would probably give $25 to the bathroom attendant if I had one.
Waitstaff is paid by the hour and your hall is already charging you gratuity for this.

No you don't tip them.
You BM will tell you the only people to get tipped from the VENUE is your Bridal Attendant an your Maitre D

Re: Do you have to tip...
So...I really don't want to tip any one at all...I don't know if I'm being cheap but I figure the reception hall has ALREADY added 20% or more to your bill for 'gratuity' and now they expect for you to pay more! That really sucks..I'm leaning towards tipping as followed:
Maitre D 150.00 Bridal Attendant 75 Each
I look at it like you will NEVER see these people again and after forking out thousands of dollars already...they should be appreciative of what you tip them anyway. After all its not like your Maitre D or Bridal Attendants are getting paid $2-$3 /Per Hour like waitresses do and their salary is based on your tip. JMO

Re: Do you have to tip...
FYI - I have family member that use to work in two big venues...lets hear this first:
that 20% gratuity is NEVER seen by the staff, instead it goes to the upper management.
your Maitre' D tip get HALF of what you give and then goes back to the hall again. AND the hall is not suppose to tell you how much to tip, that is based on what you feel.
So what he suggested is give your Maitre D a tip and say this is for them, and then a seperate envelope for whoever else.
I was appalled by this!!!! 20% doesn't given go to the people who work so hard!!!!
I asked my boss' son who works in a catering hall in Staten Island and he said the same thing!!! THIS APPALLING!!!

Re: Do you have to tip...
not sure about valet but think you are suppose to tip bathroom attendant. I worked for years as a bartender at a catering hall and most people don't realize that the 20% grat does not actually go to anyone on staff, it goes to the house!
