here are a couple that were good

Pipa, 38 East 19th Street (Park Avenue S and Broadway)

Samba-Le, 23 Avenue A (Houston and 2nd Street)
great drinks

Agozar, 324 Browery (Bond Street)

Divine Bar (both East and West) have great tapas options, plus you can get flights (tastes) of wine too. the seating is upstairs and away from the regular bar part.

Pipa is good, but there's a new place, Pamplona on 28th b/t Park and Madison that is supposed to be the best in the city. The have reservations for 2 at 6:30 and 9:00 tonight (they are on opentable.com).

You should definitely try El Cid 322 west 15th... Incredible! I work in the city and probably go there about once a month or so. The place is a hole in the wall but the tapas are fantastic! Oh and there sangria will knock you off your butt!

I love that place, I went by a while ago thought it had closed down!!!! So glad to know its still open. Gonna hit it up.

Also try Sala - there are two locations (one on the LES and one in the village).
