Theresa's phone post got me thinking about some of my mom's obnoxious friends. I don't have a problem telling them like it is. I always hear from my mom-you are so rude, you have no respect. Well just b/c they think I am a measly 27 yr old peon of a friend's daughter doesn't mean they have the right to talk to me however they want!!
I also can't STAND when some of them call me by saying Oye Nina! That is a way of approaching a female in the Ecuadorian culture. And I don't take it. This is when I say: NO sorry, I am not a Nina. I am 27 yrs old. I am a woman. Treat me like one and call be my name Wanda.
Then there are those friends that I love like they are my Aunties.

I love all my dad's friends but my FIL must find his friends at the mental hospital! Most of them are serial killers in the making.

I like most of my parent's friends but some of my mom's friends are annoying noseybody's ....I would always have to watch my back in the old neighborhood in case someone was watching! 'Oh I saw your daughter smoking a cig on metro ave'...'Oh was that your daughter with that boy who has 5 earrings ? ' LOL

Some of my mom's friends are stupid, but i like them all.
I ahte when you answer the phone and they go gail????, how bout asking for my mom and saying hello first, everytime i answer the ohone one lady always thinks I am her.

I definitely do not like all of my parents friends...and some of these people are invited to my wedding! Ugh! I just smile and nod until they go away.

My parents have had their friends since they were teenagers so they all feel like aunt and uncles to me. I also like that they knew my parents when they were young because they tell me stories on the 'bad' things they did lol

Oh boy, my mother has this one single friend who is sooooooooooooooooooo annoyingly self-centered, miserable, cranky, beothcy and lazy, and all she EVER does is complain how she doesn't have a man, and that why should she work when her kids could pay the rent? (they are grown). She claims it's their turn to take care of her. And she is REALLY mean to my father because he 'takes my mom's time away from her.' I just want to tell her to get over herself.

My parents friends from when they were born till they got to this country are my closest and dearest. But the new ones, are the ones that irritate me.
