So one of my friends just met this great new guy and she is excited about their first date....
Do you miss that feeling of things being exciting/new and learning about each other etc?
or do you like the fact that you know each other inside and out and being comfortable?
or are things still new and exciting? LOL
I am so excited for her I just love the begining .....the butterflies, first kiss etc!
I am such a dork lol

yes and no.... i love the new exciting feeling... now it's progressed to things like bickering, loose flatulence and EVERYTHING out in the open.. probably too much hahahaha. But I do love what we have now.

sometimes I miss the new-ness! Remember the first kiss and all that good stuff.
However, I love that he is the last person I'm going to kiss.....

We still get so excited when the other one comes home and act like we're a new couple, etc. but there's only ever ONE real first kiss I miss waiting for those firsts, but we'll have lots of new other firsts to look forward to.
CONGRATS to your friend., Always nice to hear when a friend of mine meets someone they are excited about !

Re: Do you Miss the 'new-ness'
You can feel happy and excited for your friend!! No harm in that!
I feel those butterflies every time FH holds me in his arms. He's a big hugger. I miss him so much right now (he lives in NC and only visits 1 week every 6 weeks or so).
Sometimes I wonder what it will be like to be with him forever and if I'll ever wonder what it would be like to meet someone new, but it's human nature to wonder just like you wonder what it would be like to live in a different place or have a different job. We have imaginations for a reason!
My uncle always tells me he lives vicariously through my stories because he always wanted to be a lawyer. I'm always like 'uhhh ok...' but I guess it makes him happy to think about.
Anyway, my point is... I hope your friend has fun on her date!!! Now, back to planning this wedding...

I love being comfortable and not always having to be perfect.

Re: Do you Miss the 'new-ness'
I do miss the new-ness, that spark, that excitement. But I don't miss the uncertainty and the fear, the 'is he going to break up with me' feeling.
We're still pretty cutesy and new looking though to the outside, we still hold hands and stuff. But I do like where we are now in the sense of just being able to flip him off when he says something annoying, or bickering and divulging way too much information lol.

Re: Do you Miss the 'new-ness'
Yea, I cant even imagine trying to get where I am today with someone else. Its hard work being in a commited relationship. But honest to god, I still get butterflies when I wait for him to come home from work. We dont get to see each other often cause he has a really demanding job. Its not quite as 'exciting' as it once was but we still have great fun :o)

At one point in our relationship, i did miss that newness... and having butterflies and all that... and I did a stupid thing and broke up with him, searching for that newness again.... only to realize how great of a thing i had with FH... and it actually made us a stronger couple in the long-run...
On that note, I dont miss it now... Im comfortable where we are... I hear about my friends who are in the dating world and wow... i feel sorry for them... Its like eat or be eaten

FH and I are constantly finding new things to get butterflies over-so while I love hearing other people's tales of new love, I think it's SO MUCH BETTER being with 'the one' and constantly learning new things about each other.
Great question!

Re: Do you Miss the 'new-ness'
its tough- i used to be an extremely different person before FH- storytime!
i dated a guy on and off for 4 years- i used to get sick of him because i kept craving that new and butterfly feeling so id dump him and then go date another guy for like a month and then id go back to him
it was seriously a 6 month cycle thing- every 6 months id get sick of him and go to another guy - so bad!
Then i got the guy i always wanted and i fell in love immediately but i didnt want to rush into anything too quickly because i know how i am and i wanted to be cautious- but in the end its 3 years later and i am still feeling the same way i did the first day we hung out.
