Do you really need a limo???

If your getting married in the same location as the reception, is there a need for a limo (s)? Is anyone doing this? If so, what would be the details of who goes where and when?

We didn't have any limos...the ceremony was at the same place as the reception.

Not having limos... I'm going to get dressed at the hall also so there is no worries about squeezing that big dress in a little car!

I'd rather have the 1k to spend on other things!

we have a 30-40 minute drive from church to reception and i am trying to figure out a way to get around limos. i think the prices they charge for a few hours is crazy. on top of that, very seldom do i hear of 'success stories', it's always one nightmare after another...

we may wind up with no choice, but i am trying my hardest to avoid them...

I am getting married @ the reception hall but I am getting a limo. We are taking pictures before the ceremony and I have a few places picked out to take pictures, so I figured we would get a big limo so the whole BP can come with us and be driven to all the picture locations

I got married at the reception hall and only booked one limo. If you are trying to save money, I would let your bridal party know that they need to meet you at the place where you are having your pictures taken or have them meet you at the reception hall. I let my bridal party know that since we were having pics taken beforehand, they could just meet me at the reception hall. They were totally fine with it and it ended up saving us some money!

when we were getting married at the hall we were going to do limos - just have a towncar pick us up at the end of the night

We didn't do it...we got married at the same location...it didn't make any sense.

We stayed the night at the location before and after the wedding. You could have one take you from your reception to your hotel if it's a car ride away.

For us it didn't make sense. Besides, we saved money, saved the environment from unnecessary gas, etc.

Re: Do you really need a limo???

We are getting married at the reception hall and we booked limos because I am getting ready at my parents home.
When I was looking for limos I made sure I told them that all I needed was a pick up and drop off, and that I did not need the standard three HR package that they give for weddings. The prices dropped dramatically when I did this.
I wound up paying 150 for each limo I needed ( 2 in total) 150 for a white rolls Royce( for me and my father) and they threw in the town car to pick us up @ the end of the reception for free!
