Do you really think I need limos?

Do you really think I need limos?

It's just that my church is only a couple of blocks from Tribeca - and I like the idea of walking because I LOVE the idea of pictures of us all walking in the city in our wedding attire . . .

However - if I don't book it, I guess I'm screwed if it rains... LOL it just seems like such a waste. What would you do?

You could always get a taxi if it rains..
I think those would be pretty cool pictures too. And would be a lot cheper than limos.

i was actually thinking of renting a bus... do you think that is stupid? it is just so much cheaper and we have it for the whole night. I was thinking a small hampton jitney or something like that. get a cooler in the back filled with drinks... it might be fun

I think that is such a great idea however you're right about the rain thing. You could always have a back up plan like just renting a car a few days in advance. Just keep your eyes on the weather channel.

isn't it weird that limo companys have different prices for different affairs... and ironically weddings are the most expensive... it is SOOO much money and i can't decide if it is worth it.

Yes i think walking would be soooo cute....BUT like you said..if it rains you are SCREWED!

And i don't particularly like the taxi thing...
Taxi's can skeeve me out with my regualr clothes...
Getting into one with my WEDDING DRESS....NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!

OK ETA...I don't think i would walk either...You dress will get SOOOOOOOOOO DIRTY on the bottom!

IMO ...GET LIMOS!

Maybe you could have a car waiting just in case.

Maybe look into a Town Car? I think that might be cheaper than a limo (and nicer than a taxi). You shouldn't have to spend so much $$ on something you'll only need for a few minutes...

We had limos for everyone else, but used our own car for us. DH walked to the church from his house because it was across the street and it looks so nice on the video!

I rode from the hotel to the church in the limo. We used our own car (driven by the best man) to the reception. Then, we got in our own car and went home.

Could you just have someone drive you? Depending upon how big your dress is.

I agree what might look good for photos is not practical because... it could rain, taxis are WAY skeevie, and your dress will be filthy.

You could still pop out and take the picture you want. Have someone hail a cab, pretend to be getting out or in and throw the driver a few bucks. Then pose with one where it looks like you are walking... make sure FH holds your dress completely off of the ground... I've seen a post of a picture where they did that.

My cousin got married at NYU and their reception was a few blocks away (many guests walked, we did) but they had a limo.

Re: Do you really think I need limos?

you can usually get a limo spur of the moment. I went out with all of the girls in NYC two weekends ago. We were tired of taking cabs from bar to bar. SO we splurged & took a limo to the next bar. IT was random...but I think it cost us $40 total!! I couldnt believe it. Apparently there are a lot of random limos around the city that just taxi people around.

Just something to think about as a back-up for bad weather. I would just hope for the best & assume you can walk. That would be so cute. My vote: save your money.

We were in LIttle Italy once and saw the bride, groom, bridal party and many guests walking down Mulberry Street to Sal Anthony's. It was so old world beautiful...like a celebration in the streets...everyone was cheering and clapping...I'm sure it made for some great pictures, too. Maybe you could plan on doing that but have a frined with a nice car available on stand by in case of rain?

I love the idea of walking and/or the taxi. Both are so NYC. If you live in the city or are there all the time, this just makes sense. It is all part of city life so why not incorporate it into your wedding.
