When we got Bama 3 weeks ago, I noticed that my throat started to bother me and I thought I was getting sick. Then I realized that my throat hurt because I talk to Bama in this high-pitched silly voice and talk in baby talk....'hellloooo my good boy!!! Give Mommy kisses!!!! Do you have to go poo-poos?'

not necessarily in baby talk, but I do Talk to her as if she were a person...and I swear she understands me....
whenever I walk in the door and open up her cage I say 'There's my girl!'

Me too and FH hates it. He also hates that I whistle to one of my cats--I've trained her to come to me when I whistle the 'Lassie' theme song. I'm not even kidding--she comes running no matter where she is in the apartment. I'm so gifted. I'm not the Horse Whisperer, but you can call me the Cat Whistler

I totally do this with my sister's cat! He's just a baby now, but I'm sure I'll always talk in 'kitty voice' since he's just so cute!
When we get our dog, I KNOW I'll baby talk to him too though - he'll be our baby, how can I not?

Re: Do you talk to your pet in a different voice?
Yes --but it does cause a problem if we're at a park or anywhere really w/children because he thinks everyone who is talking in that voice -- is talking to him.

Re: Do you talk to your pet in a different voice?
I talk to the kitty in such a stupid baby voice - even funnier than that is DH imitating my voice talking to her - she knows he's a fake and she won't go to him! Like he should talk - he calls the dog 'Woofie Woofie'
