Do you think $200 per person is too much for a Bachleorette party?
My sister and I and some other girls really want to go to Gurney's for my Bachleorette party. We can afford it but we know some girls can't. Should we still do it and let them know that they don't have to come? Or would that be rude? I am so frustrated! I really want to go

To me it wouldn't be a lot but I know for a lot of my friends it would. You might hurt people's feelings so maybe you could do two events? One that is less expensive that everyone can go to. Just an idea.

How about having a 'bonding' outing for you and your sis (and your mom?) at Gurney's and then having a bachlorette luncheon later on with everyone...you can make that day a manicure/pedicure/facial/waxing day. Less expensive for them and fun!

well, if $200 is alot for a bachelorette party then those of you that took a limo into the city for the night, had dinner, and went out to a club.... how much did that cost
my friends go into the city every other weekend and i know when i go into the city and take the train it is an automatic $200 night JMO
How many BM do you have... i would say if it was a problem for more than 1 of them then i wouln't do it but if it was just for that one person and you new what the problem was... i would offer to help them out just so they could be there

I agree . . . $200 is a lot for some people especially with the additional expenses that come with being a BM . . .

Re: Do you think $200 per person is too much for a Bachleorette party?
i think it's too much.
i didn't go to a bachelorette party once because that was the price. the girl wasn't a close friend of mine, so it wasn't a big deal. i know my close friends would never ask me to spend that amount...
to me, it's more important to spend the time with my friends, and if it means i have to do something less expensive to accommodate everyone i will do so. or, i would just foot the bill myself...
i am the minority when it comes to assuming what a BM's 'responsibilities' entail. to me, i just want the girls to show up and not impose on their lives and pocketbooks. i am paying for their dresses, my 'shower' (if i have one) will consist of a brunch where no one is expected to pay and/or give gifts.
everyone has their own view of what is appropriate and what isn't. i am shocked to see the numbers that fly around these boards and assumptions that are made (i.e. 'she makes good money, lives at home and buys lots of shoes and bags' - that is her right, who is anyone to tell another individual how to spend his/her $$$...). FH and i do pretty well for ourselves but do everything pretty much on our own. $100 here and $100 there adds up and IS a big deal to me. sometimes i think that everyone is just filthy rich on these boards because i can't seem to do the math...

I don't think it's too much, as long as you don't mind if some people don't go.
My BM is planning my bachelorette in Vegas. I know it's a bit over the top, but it has become a tradition for our group of friends. It's like a reunion - a weekend long party. But, if someone thought it was too expensive, or didn't want to come, I wouldn't mind at all.
I say do what you want. Maybe you could plan a day that would include Gurney's as well as something else like a lunch or dinner in Montauk. That way your friends can choose to do all or part of the event. Just my $0.02, though. have fun whatever you decide!

If you're doing a weekend thing away, it may be a little bit pricey for some - BUT that weekend trip is always a good excuse to have another night out - Just a night of drinking and dancing so anyone/everyone can come ....
A bunch of us will be going to Vegas before I get married- Open invitation, but obviously many will not come. - So, i'll be having my 'bachelorette party' one Saturday night so everyone can come and have a good time

Thanks everyone. We decided that my mom, my sister, FMIl, and FSIL will go to Gurney's and then we will go out to dinner or something with all my BM's on another day. Thanks again everyone. Sometimes I just can't make decisions on my own

I know for my friends(and myself) $200 is too much. I think that the 'bonding night ' with sis and mom sounds nice. Then doing a less expensive thing for everyone else.
