On the internet with people that you don't know is a form of cheating if they are of the opposite sex? or same sex if you are bisexual?

depends on what you are talking about and/or what your intentions are.

Re: Do you think contact?
Why does it depend? I mean why would you be speaking to guys online? Flirting>?

Re: Do you think contact?
if you are truly in the situation for a platonic friendship then it's not cheating, IMO

Re: Do you think contact?
I think if you are having cyber sex or asking for phone #'s and talking on the phone, yes I think it is a form of cheating.
If you are both playing those on-line games, in some sort of club (no sex related), etc, than no.

Re: Do you think contact?
I think it depends too.....If I made a friend online who happened to be a guy....I wouldn't have to flirt to be friends... A simple friendship would pose no threat to me, or FH for that matter....
**as long as he or I were not trying to keep it a secret from each other**
We are both too confident in our relationships to let friends of the opposite sex make us uneasy or insecure....
Ya know?

Re: Do you think contact?
I don't think online 'contact' is cheating. That would make us all cheaters since we contact each other online every day (and there have been some guys on here). There are also plenty of co-ed message boards/chat rooms and by using them you're not cheating.
A male / female relationship (either online or live) is perfectly fine as long as boundries are respected.
If the relationship/conversation starts turning sexual then it gets questionnable. I don't know where I'd draw the cheating line. Is watching porn cheating? is calling a sex hotline cheating?

Re: Do you think contact?
I agree with LisaT...we all contact people every day. I have a few very good guy friends on the internet that I deal with only on the net but almost every day. Anthony knows all about them...so is that cheating? No, not at all. If I met them or called them every day or pursued the relationship then yes it is cheating...but as far as dealings go...no that is not cheating.

I do think it is cheating, when you are talking sexually with others in a certain way.
What is with all these cheating questions

Re: Do you think contact?
In my opinion:
If you are having a relationship with someone other than your FH/DH, whether it be on the phone, computer, in person, and it is sexual in nature it is cheating.
I also believe that if you have an intimate relationship with someone other than your DH/FH it is cheating. And by intimate, I don't necessarily mean physical, even an emotionally intimate relationship with someone else is wrong in my opinion. And in both cases, I do not think that it matters what the sex of that other person is. Male, female, whatever. A true committment to someone else has nothing to do with your sexual orientation.

Re: Do you think contact?
So what if you have a guy friend who you have always been close with? I have more guy friends than girl friends and I confide in them as I always have. I will be the first to say that my dh is my best friend first and foremost but when I need advice or want to talk or when they do..we turn to each other. I have a whole group of guys I grew up with that I stayed close with..so because I have emotional ties to them, does this mean I am cheating on my dh?

No, not at all, in fact, my two best friends are men, but a close relationship is not an intimate one. I think it's in the way two people relate to eachother as well.

Re: Do you think contact?
Ditto to what Rachel said.
Im a sincere and 'open' person. If I was doing something that I felt guilty about, there would be a reason that I felt guilty. It would be because what I was doing would be WRONG. Does that make sense?
Basically, if you FEEL its wrong, it probably is. So, what everyone FEELS about their friendships with others of the opposite sex, or chatting online, depends on each circumstance.
I can go online to home improvement chatboards, and get the best advice, from some of the most HANDY men out there. Does that mean im cheating ???
and everyone's answer of right and wrong, depends greatly on their relationship, the personalities of the hubbies (some men cant stand another man even saying GOOD MORNING to their wives ) and of course in the security of your love and trust for eachother.
enough yapping.
