Do you think it's insane to invite 280 people when the RH only holds 240 max?
FH is insisting he needs to invite all of these coworkers - I asked him to give me his list back when we sent out STDs and he never got it to me so none of his people got them - all of mine, my parents and his parents list did so we can't uninvite any of them. Only FHs people can to be cut but is putting up a lot of resistance.
Should I just let him invite everyone and hope for the best? I know usually about 20% say no but what if they don't???
Totally stressed.

Thats a tough question... Yes, typically 20% doesnt show..but what if you're the exception to the rule. I guess you have to go based on your own judgement...are there people who you are pretty sure wont come to the wedding? If you have a good feeling that 20% wont show, then go for it.

I know that there will defnitely be nos among my grandparents friends - they live in FL and won't come but have to be invited.
Otherwise, we have not had anyone tell us they won't be able to make it or even that they're not sure if they can make it.
FH also thinks that b/c we got invited to someone's wedding now we have to invite them to our wedding. We get invited to weddings of his co-workers that I have never even heard him mention and have never met at any get togethers. And he is constantly talking to his coworkers even on his days off.
Maybe I can make some of his peeps into a 'B' list rather than cut them altogether. Our min is only 180 so I don't think we're going to have any touble with that at least!

I think you'll be ok. Chances are that you'll get 40 no's since that's like not even 15 percent of the total. But maybe send those invites later, after you start getting no's just to be sure.

Its not insane at all! You will honestly get alot of No's so dont worry about it. If i was you i would invite them.

No, we are inviting 250, and our hall only holds 220!!! Figure on the 20% decline. Also maybe ask him about a B-list and maybe what # would be comfortable in the room. I am trying to keep it at 180, we'll see?!?!?! GL

we invited 280 and the max was 200 for the room -- we're only having about 180 attend... a lot of nos...

I would make an A and B list once you get some no's mail out the other invites. You never know a lot may RSVP yes and we can't have 260-280 in a 240 room ! May get a wee bit tight

NEVER NEVER invite the max of your hall. they lie with that number because i have been to a few weddings at their max amount and we can't move!! stinks

20% is 56 people, would bring you down to 224. might be cutting it close, but if you have a good idea of a number of people that won;t attend, go ahead and send out invites for 280 people.
I don't like the idea of B lists. Invariably, people find out that they have been B listed.

You'll probably be okay, but it is cutting it a little close. Do you have a lot of OOT guests? I feel like the 20 percent rule holds most true when people have to travel.
