that I'm paying for their hair and makeup as part of their gift but they have to tip the ladies themselves?

I am sure it would be expensive, but I think for a gift like this you should tip the person doing the hair.

Hmmm, I'm doing the same thing. Giving them GCs to the hair person for their updos. I may just pay the tip myself. Would $100 be too little for bride updo and 3 BM updos?

No. It's nice of you to even pay for it.

I wish I had the funds to pay for all of my BMs' makeup and hair, but I didn't. I also didn't request they get it done. Out of 5, 3 did anyway and 2 did their own hair.

To be honest in my opinion , id say yes..

Im doing the same thing, & I would never expect them to take care of the tip, I thibks it should be part of the gift..,

ie: say u were taking youf friend out for dinner, would u say leave the tip..

I dont know jmo,,

I think $100 would even more than cover you and 3BM's. A tip is additional to what they are already making. Is the hairdresser coming to you or are you going to them?

I would be offended...it's kind of like when someone gives you an animal....here's your gift, now you have to pay to keep it up (food, vet...)....ok, not nearly as expensive, but still.

She's coming to our hotel.

It's not rude at all IMO...just say 'I'm covering the cost of your hair and makeup - you just have to tip'...it's nice you're even paying for it!

I've been in 2 weddings where this was the case and none of us BM's thought it was rude...we were all just so delighted that the bride picked up the tab.

And yes - I think $100 is enough tip for bride and 3 BM's.

IMHO I think it's rude to expect them to pay the tip. It's a nice gessture, but you're essentially giving them an extra expense that they may not have planned for.

So she keeping everything she's making! So lets just say your hair is $150 20% of that is $30
and the BM's hair is $80 each for a total of $240 20% of that is $48. To be honest I would give her $75 for everyone. That's more than fair and then you can save yourself the headache of having to ask you BM's for anything.

Wow, thanks! Yeah, I guess $100 was a bit high.

No problem. I am having 6 BM's and they are all on their own in term of hair/makeup. So you are really glinda_goodwitch.

I think you should pay for it all, tip too.

I think it's tacky to ask for them to pay just the tip.

I think it is a nice idea if you are certain they all want to get their hair and makeup done. I would also include the tip, if not, get them each a gift card.

I don't think it's rude, but I think you should present it as- I'm happy to pay for your hair and make-up if you'd like to get it done. You just need to cover the tip.

That way, they don't have to get it done if they don't want to pay the tip. I know that extra 10-15 bucks adds up when you're covering a large bridal party!

That's my dilema- I wanted to pay for all of my bridesmaids but there are 6 of them and I don't see how that's gonna be possible. It's nice for them to be getting all of that done for just the cost of the tip, but then again, if you're getting someone the gift, you'd might as well go all out.

Is the hair their whole gift? I thought it was just part of their gift, in which case just paying for the hair is fine. However, if you're going to give them that as their bridesmaid's gift, then I'd prob pay for the tip also. I'm sure the cost to do the hair is expensive, so might as well do it right and cover the whole thing. Look on the bright side- you'll never have to pay for it again.

I think it depends on your relationship with them - 4 of 5 of my BMs are my girls that I've known forever and they know at this point I am cash strapped so I don't think they would mind if I asked them to tip the hairstylist. I think they'd be grateful that I was paying the majority of the bill.

i'm giving them:

hair
makeup
tote bags with their names embroidered
engraved jewelry boxes
tank tops that say 'bridesmaid'
wedding day jewelry
ballet slippers for reception

i honestly thought everyone would say 'if it's just part of your gift and you're getting them other stuff, they should have no problem shellng out $10 each'. but i guess the consensus is for me to pay for the tip too.

Wow..you're really very generous, whether you end up paying the tip or not. I probably wouldn't pay the tip also if I was giving them all of that other stuff which is more than enough IMO.
