Do you think it's rude when

people are standing on line at the check out (supermarket, dept store, whatever) and they stay on their cell phones?

definately! I always at least say hi to the clerk and thank you. Most times I even make conversation.

Personally, I always feel like I am being rude when I do this, and I make every effort to get off of the phone while on line.

I don't think its rude to be on a phone call. Thats what a cellphone is for.

I DO think its rude though if somebody is fumbling around on the cellphone and is also not paying attention when it comes time to pay up. Then they end up delaying and holding up the people behind them.

If you can't multitask... get off the phone.

I always get off when it's my time to go. Most of the time when you're behind someone like that, they're talking about nothing important.

I talk through the store and while waiting on line but when it's time to pay, I get off.

YUCK!! Thats rude! And yes I think its rude when your on the phone and its your turn to pay.

BUt Im old school.

I dont like folks on cell phones at all. Its meant for emergencies. I dont understand how anyone uses more than maybe 150 mins in a month. I hate folks who talk at dinner in resturants. I think its rude. I really hate cell phone use in the LIRR, wait till you get home. I can't STAND cell phone use and driving GOD how stupid! and I even cringe at folks who talk and walk. Mostly since they cant seem to multitask.

I find cell phone usuage mostly just RUDE

I use mine but short conversations only. Long ones when Im ALONE like in my car waiting for my hubby Parked in his parking lot. If im lost I call while I drive but it's short and simple.

God yes. Not only is it rude to the cashier, who it trying to tell the person how much they owe while they are chatting away, but its RUDE to everyone WHO DOESNT WANT TO HEAR THEIR BUSINESS

im the odd ball. doesnt bother me at all. as long as they move their aZZ, pay for their groceries and dont get in my way, i dont notice at all. im too busy reading US Weekly to care

I used to think it was really rude, but I guess I'm getting used to people doing it so often that now I agree with Melissa!

I do think its rude. Especially when they're not exactly the fastest moving when talking and checking out at the same time, so yes, it annoys me. Hang up the phone and call them when you are done.

I always have to call someone back and I hate getting a call when I'm somewhere. I always whisper when I answer it, and everyone who knows me, will say, uh-oh, are you in a store? I say yup, I'll call you back.......LOL
