Makes it easier for a newbie then to just start posting?

Re: Do you think that introducing yourself
i think it might be...I didn't introduce myself as a newbie...I just started posting...I kind of slid in under the radar...it was hard to pick up on whether I was 'wanted' in a convo or not...then I realized everyone was just responding..you didn't have to be asked...

what about if you just start a lot of threads?

Re: Do you think that introducing yourself
I never introduced myself, I just jumped in and started giving my $.02!!! If it's easier for some girls to introduce themselves first then they should do it.
ETS: I rarely start threads. For some reason when I was a newbie I thought no one would care or pay any attention to my threads, but I've come to realize that that was silly of me!!

Re: Do you think that introducing yourself
dunno - i never actually introduced myself when i started and i still got responses and stuff.
i actually think what makes a diff is trying to be a part of other people's posts b/c then when you start a post other gals might be a bit more interested b/c they recognize the name.
i don't think it matters too much. but gals start bonding a bit, even if they don't know each other, with other posters and wanna be able to help that poster when they can, same way that gal helped them when they asked for it.

What if you post as somebody? Then introduce yourself as somebody else?

what do you mean?
eta - forgot to answer the op - no I don't think so. I just think if you have something informative, positive, and/or supportive to add - people will respond.

That is why the other post was started. I'm sure it will be deleted soon.

I don't know. I don't think I introduced myself. I think I just put up a post. If memory serves me correctly it was something about what color nail polish for the big day. But, I do think that the title of your post is directly related to the number of responses.

I think going to a GTG helps, but I didn't do an intro post so I'm not sure.

Re: Do you think that introducing yourself
Probably, but I don't think it should be that way. Some girls come on here to form friendships, others come on for just info. I think if you want to join for more of the social aspect then that's great, and it would probably be more helpful to start an introductory thread. The site is technically an informational site, so people should also feel comfortable just posting a question or responding to a thread - but I don't think that's always the case.

It doesn't hurt I guess. I didn't do one though! Oops. I lurked for a couple of months before I actually started posting and then I couldn't stop!
I agree that a GTG helps (even though I haven't been able to make it to any so I only know a few people that I knew before). It's nice having a personal connection.

Re: Do you think that introducing yourself
When I first came on here I just tried to blend in with the rest of you girls, but I think maybe my '1 total posts' might have given me away lol!
