We are getting married on Friday of Labor day weekend. Most of my close friends already know and we are only having like 130 pp. Would it be OK if we just sent the invites out like 3 1/2 months in advance? We are spending so much already,and to spend like $200 on something we might not need seems like a waste. Plus I don't have time or the skill to make them myself ( at least not so they look good. Please give me your opinions. Thank you. Andrea

Typically, STD's are sent out when a function falls on a holiday weekend. I read that in an ettiquette book yesterday.
Although you can collect email addresses and email this information to people and it wont cost you a dime. You seem to be a creative person, so I can imagine that it would be easy enough to find some nice design online that wouldnt cost you anything. Maybe e-vite has something.

I polled no before I saw that you are getting married on a holiday weekend. In that case, are they necessary? Still no, but I would recommend them. You can get them made for less than $200. I believe mine were $80 and they were a card & magnet ... good luck!STD's

I would send one for a holiday weekend...it's a nice way to let people know ahead of time. You can get postcard std from vistaprint.com and it is not expensive.

Are your guests internet savvy? If so, I would send them an e-save the date from theknot.com. It's free and serves it's purpose. Otherwise, word of mouth is fine, but because your wedding falls on a holiday weekend (like mine) you do need to let your guests know.

i don't think that they're necessary but since that's usually such a busy weekend I would def recommend it. You can always print up simple ones at home.

For a holiday weekend, I would recommend sending to family and your friends.
I would suggest sending them, but sending them ASAP - not waiting til 3 1/2 months before the wedding. I got mine from vistaprint.com. We chose to do the business card size (free, just pay $5 for postage), then add a strip of magent paper to the back, and voila, cheap and easy STD magnets!

I sent my STDs in a decorative email and in the email I had hyperlinks to the hotels. My guests thought that was a great idea and they liked the hyperlink idea.

Your having about the same amount of people I did. Do your guests already know you are getting married that weekend? Then don't worry about it. STD are not a necessity in wedding planning. They are optional.

I would say you should definitely send them out. I was looking for a friend recently and you can get them really cheaply on ebay.
