Do you think the draft will be reinstituted?

I feel so sorry for our troops overseas. Now a lot of them have had 6 months or more added onto their duty. My ex (also my best friend) has been there since about April and I miss him so much.

I am so afraid that they will reinstitute the draft. Does anyone else think that they will? My brother is 16 and I dont know what I would do if he had to go and fight (although he wants to join the army anyway). My father and my moms fiance both fought in vietnam and I know things they went through and their loved ones went through back home. I feel so sorry for these families.

Do you think that the draft will ever come back??

I dont think they will reinstate the draft because when 9/11 happened, the lines were OUT THE DOORS to recruiting offices...men and women of America couldnt join up fast enough. America is filled with brave people..GOD BLESS EM ALL!! I just dont think they need to reinstate the draft, they had the draft for vietnam because noone really believed in it..so noone was bangin down the doors tryin to sign up. My father is a retired Colonel in teh army, fought in Vietnam.a very storng and proud man of this country..but I dont think to this day he can tell you why he was in Vietnam. Times were different then.

not in the near future...to have a war you need a large scale war...and major ground fighting over a large period of time...

now especially with new technology, fighting is rarely done on the ground and our weapons are extremely percise...

I don't think its about patriotism...


there was more patriotism during the 1940's for WWII...however, b/c of the large scale they had to draft an enormous amount of people...even people into their 30's (my grandfather being one)


but hopefully there won't be a major ground war like WWII again...b/c you know what Albert Einstein said about WWIV right?
