I want to ask my bridal party to stay to the end of my wedding. My wedding is on a Sunday night and I have this fear of everyone leaving in droves at like 10 PM and the room being empty. Our reception goes from 5-10:30 and then we have a jazz hour (with cigars and cordials) until 11:30. Do you think this is an unreasonable request? I thought I would check with you girls before I ask
Although Columbus Day is the next day, I think some people may have to work. I feel bad expecting them to stay late especially when two of the bridal party members have kids...what do you think?

I don't think that this is an unreasonable request, but try not to be disappointed if they can't. I'm sure if you explain how important this is to you, they will do everything they can to make it work!

You can ask them to stay, but you shouldn't feel upset if they don't or can't. It is a Sunday and even though it's a holiday, some people may have to work on Monday and when you have kids, it's not easy to stay somewhere overnight...they may not find babysitters, etc.
Just enjoy your day, no matter what happens. I'm sure some people will stay for your jazz hour and you'll have a great time.

I agree. I think it's reasonable.
People may not walk out like you think with the holiday so close.

I agree... most of my girls ar off the day after mine, but some had to work (they took off)... Knowing that youre in a BP, most girls, and guys tend to take off the next day because they know theyre gonna be out late and drinking. Not to mention danicing all night.. I dont think that its unreasonable.. Discuss it with them though!

I probably would not say something because then it will feel like an obligation rather than fun. Don't you think they will stay anyway? Maybe you can say something like, 'I would love for you guys to stay until the jazz hour is over.'

I'm in the same boat AnnieB - are you a 10/12 bride too? I don't think that's an unreasonable request. I know some of our guests will have to work but many are taking the opportunity to call in sick Good luck!
Are you indicating on the invitations that you're having the jazz hour from 10:30-11:30? That may encourage some folks to hang out.

I don't think it's unreasonable at all. They are honored guests at your wedding and I think that part of that role includes staying for the entire wedding.

I would assume that they would stay anyway. I never even thought of mentioning this to my girls. It's only one day they can be tired.

I'm sure if they are able to say they would love to! It sounds like it would be a great time; however, understand if some decline. They may not be able to take the day off, etc. But definitely ask!

I wouldn't think it was unreasonable. Besides, they probably are going to stay until the end. I have always stayed when I was in the wedding party, so has FH.

reasonable requests
I think it depends how you ask them. If you explain your concerns and tell them you understand that they have kids, etc, but that you hope they can stay through the jazz hour, I think that would be ok. But, I know that if I were in a bridal party & was told I had to stay, I wouldn't like it a bit -- even if I had planned to stay.
