Do you think this is appropriate?

Do you think this is appropriate?

I know its WAY too early to think of this.. and besides vacuuming, washing the floors, doing laundry, moving furniture, balancing the checkbook - ANYTHING to keep me from crying about FH's grandmother passing this morning.. well I want something special at the wedding to remember her by. She was the first one in his family - besides FH of course - but even more welcoming than my immediate inlaws - at my shower in November - she had given me a nativty decoration that she had gotten when she got married over 60 years ago.. just because she wanted to welcome me properly to the family - the only gift I remember so vividly from my shower.. sorry for rambling..
anyway - i know that I want to have a table with her photo and a poem about her, and flowers to remember her. I wanted to have a locket with her photo in it to wrap around my bok - is this completely inappropriate since shes not MY grandmother? sorry again if I rambled......

Were you really close to her? You sound like you were and I honestly think that anything that makes you happy and makes you remember her on your wedding day is appropriate. Who's to tell you whats appropriate in that kind of situation? You should do whatever makes you happy. I am sure the FIL's and FH would be deeply touched as well.

Personally, I don't like the idea of memory candles or pictures at a wedding. It's just cause I get too sad with that kind of stuff and I know it would sadden me too much on my wedding day. That is JMO. I know many girls do this and I think its a nice, beautiful touch (as long as you can emotionally handle it.. unlike me!)

Definately NOT inappropriate! she is your grandmother! Just not blood. i say you should totally do it! Don't feel funny about it either. She obviously touched you in a sweet way... and that should not be forgotten. It's also a nice way to have her with you guys on your day... and I'm sure she wanted to be there.... so carry her with you!

I don't think that it's inappropriate for you. She obviously was special in your life. And, the decoration she gave you to welcome you into the family means that she thought alot of you as well. I would definitely do the locket to have along with your bo-k.

i think its appropriate if its ok with FH and his parents. i have no idea what your relationship with her was but if it wasnt very close they may think its weird for you to take it so personally.....i think the table at the reception is totally appropriate, but the bok charm might be more appropriate for FH to have unless you were very close with her as well.....at least thats the way I would feel if my FSIL did that when she married my brother

sorry if i sound weird

I think it is a great way to remember her....especially if she touched you in such a positive way. FH should be very happy that you thought so much about honoring her.

What a great gesture.

She doesn't have to be a blood relative to be someone special and of importance in your life. I think it's a great idea..
