FH's grandma has been visiting us all week. She came up to not only spend time with us, but to help decorate our new townhouse (she's really good at making decorative pillows and picking out furniture and paint schemes). So anyway, on Tuesday night FH goes out to play softball and leaves me with grandma (who I don't even know that well). It didn't bother me so much because his team is tied for 1st place with 5 other teams and he's one of his team's best players so they really needed him. But then last night he had a baseball game and was actually going to play! I was like, I don't think so! We got into a huge fight over the phone about this - his 75 year old grandmother came all the way from Alabama to see her favorite grandson and yes, to also help me decorate, but I just thought it was so rude of FH to leave the house not one, but TWO nights out of the week. He thinks it's no big deal since she'll be here through Sunday and can spend time with her over the weekend. But I was also annoyed that he was going to leave me alone with her for a second night. I mean, I can only think of so many things to talk about with a grandma! FH flew off the handle and was like, 'if I have obligations (playing games) then I have to uphold them'. And I said, 'family is WAY more important than playing games. They can make do without you'.
And it's not like grandma and I could go see him play - his games are too far away from the house and they don't end until 11:00 either.
What do you guys think?

Thank you!!!!!! Sometimes he makes me second guess myself, like maybe I'm being unreasonable. I didn't think I was in this case. I mean, the woman is 75 years old and would do ANYTHING for him, and he can't miss a stupid baseball game for her???

don't hit me... but I do have to say that sometimes its hard to miss games in leagues like that. Some really frown upon people missing games, especially in play off situations. Its looked upon as really letting the team down.... (just showing the other side of it)

Re: Do you think this is rude?
tracyg - I'm a BIG baseball fan and very supportive of FH's playing, but let's face it, his grandma is old and who knows how much longer she'll be around? You can't waste valuable time like that just to go play a game. Yes, the team probably would be let down and might even be short players, but they've already clinched first place!

Re: Do you think this is rude?
No, that's ok - I appreciate both views! And I had said earlier in the thread that grandma and I couldn't go to the game because the field is far from the house. We would've been sitting in helllish traffic and the games end at 11:00 pm.
In the end, FH was a good boy and came home instead of playing . He still doesn't think that he was wrong in wanting to play though.......
