should I buy her penis pasta if her grandma's going to be there? is 50 pounds OK or too much? she's italian and likes pasta (and penises).

I think it's great, and I would spend the same if I were in the BP and not contributing to the shower.

my friend and are are splitting a gift and spending about 100 each ...and we are not that close to the girl but our FH's are close to the groom

I dont think thats alot at all..i am a BM in a wedding next week. And shes a good friends, not the greatest of friends, but good enough and I spent about $200 on her for her shower. Do whatever you feel comfortable with

Is it the bride's request that you're not going in on a gift? Or are there BM's that don't want to do it as a group?

I think if she's a good friend you should spend as much as you want (i know that's annoyingly diplomatic). But, no, I don't think it would be showy at all considering the circumstances.

i think that whatever amount you're comfortable spending is perfect, i think it's a great idea for a gift and she'll appreciate it. Personally i would do it. JMO

Granny will prob not even realize what it is. If she did or is very old fashioned I would stay away from it. But I doubt she will notice so go for it.
