If they are getting paid in cash, and keeping all of it for themselves, do you tip them extra? Does that change if they are coming to your house to do hair and makeup?

We tipped the person who came to the house to do my make-up who owns his salon.

We did not! We had them come to us but they pocket the money and we had all of our BM's and mom get done.

ooo... Good question... More responses please...I need to know this too! It gets to the point where we're paying these people an arm and a leg...then to tip on top I need a second job for tipping alone.

The responses seem very pro-tipping (on the newlyweds board).. I am 2 and 1/2 years rusty, and wanted to check with you all about what you're doing now!

I don't think a usual 20 percent tip is necessary if someone's coming to your house. But if you are going to a salon then yes, it is necessary. AT the salon, stylists are only making some of the money while the salon takes the rest...but if they are coming to your house there's really no reason. You may consider a 10 percent tip as a courtesy if you're happy with the work.

I would say yes because its a service they are providing and if you are impressed with what they do, well, then definitely do it
