this is always a tough one... I think I would still tip though... it's just an extra way to say 'thanks'...

I wouldn't-- it's the same kinfd of thing when you go to the hair salon and the owner works on you-- Owners make more money from that one piece of service than employees. I really don't think it is necessary esp. since he is a one man show-- any of his profit is going right into his pocket. But, it's up to you.

Re: do you tip the owner??
This is a tough one. I just had this convo with my FI last night. He says to tip anyway, but that is just the way he is.
I only have 2 vendors that are the sole owners. I think I am going to tip them with either a gift or a gift certificate.
I don't feel cash is appropriate being that they are being paid in cash. JMO

I say No. They are the only and making a lot more of the profit than someone who is working for a company.
I personally think tipping in the wedding industry is out of control. I am paying throught the roof for everything and will not be tipping the owners for example hair, make up, wedding coordinator or officiant.
Some may think I am cheap which I am not I just personally feel I am being charged enough to begin with.

I agree! If they are the owners they're getting all the money anyway. I would tip any assistants the photographer or any other vendor may have.

Re: do you tip the owner??
My photogapher owned his studio but he had an assisatnt so I tipped them because I thought they were great and made picture taking as painless as possible. I guess it depends if you're happy with their service.
