DOC

I am meeting with a few DOC's over the next week. What are some good questions to ask? It is important to me that they are familar with my venue (b/c it is not as common), but what else??

Thanks!!

Re: DOC

Hmm -

What tasks they usually perform for a bride (she had a huge list - and answered questions I didn't even know I had)? A run through of tasks throughout the day.

I also asked:

Could she be in charge of photo guest book?
Will she make sure all my details are as I requested (i.e. tables set up like I wanted, placecard table like I wanted, pew bows set up, etc)
Will she handle giving out final payments to vendors?
Has she done a wedding at my reception hall?
Cost?
Will she verify my vendors the week/day before the wedding?

That is all I remember. She pretty much just went through the entire day of what she typically does (before wedding, day of, before ceremony, during ceremony, during CH, during reception) and she answered most of my questions before I could ask them. That made me feel very comfortable!

Good luck!

Re: DOC

So I told my FH that I wanted a DOC. He kept asking if we really needed one. For those of you who have booked one, give me some good reasons so I can justify getting one. Also, how much are you paying for yours? I emailed Laura at LA Productions..can someone FM me how much she usually charges?

Re: DOC

What I did was think of some of the scenarios where I would really need her (i.e., my parents are divorced = sticky situation, someone at the rehersal dinner b/c we're not doing the rehersal at the place, making sure my HM luggage gets from the limo to our hotel room, etc.) and then I made a point to ask her about those and she assured me she could take care of it all.

Most have packages and will just tell you what is included.

Some questions we asked include:

Will there be a venue inspection (walk through day of)?

Ask if the DOC is familiar with your hall. If not, ask if s/he willing to visit the hall?

Can S/he take care of the display layout, set-up & breakdown of whatever needs it (centerpieces, guestbook, favors, cake topper, aisle runner etc.)

Will s/he take care of vendor confirmation, supervision & management

Will s/he take care of wedding day timeline development

Will s/he take care of bridal party management (making sure everyone is dressed and where they should be for ceremony, pics, toasts etc.)

Photo session management - take care of must take pics

Packaging of bride & groom's personal belongings (at the end of the night since you will drop off a ton of stuff in the days prior)

Emergency bridal amenities (chalk, sewing kit, copies of contracts, valium )

We also gave our DOC a TO DO LIST

Call the late responders - FH may do this since I refuse

Make sure bride & groom get to eat - WE ARE TO BE SERVED DINNER FIRST (so we can do table visits while they eat)

Make sure bridal party flowers correct when delivered to hotel

In charge of Polaroid guestbook (3 - 4 pictures per page with photo corners) & make sure everyone knows to sign the book by their group/couple pic

Make sure guests get Programs

Make sure guests get cry packs

Hand out rose petal cones (to persons on the AISLE only not all guests) and tell guests to toss them when we come up the aisle.

Make sure rose petals are tossed after the ceremony (and photographers get a few pics)

Votive place card arrangement & make sure votives are lit about 5 minutes before the guests come in from cocktails

Make sure centerpieces are correct in the ballroom

Make sure favors, table cameras, menus are on table

Collect table cameras at end of night

Keep check on DJ & music selections

Keep photo & video person on top of things

Make sure must take pics get done

Hope this helps

ETA - Be sure to ask what time the DOC will arrive and how long they will be with you that day. We needed someone to come to the hotel since photo/video/flowers will be at the hotel HOURS in advance of the ceremony Plus, we are taking pics with the family & bridal party prior to the ceremony but not seeing each other so we want someone to be in charge of that - making sure we do not run into each other at the hotel or the hall
