Is it worth it to hire a DOC? If so roughly how expensive are they?

Re: DOC
there have been a lot of these posts recently...
i was married almost 2 months ago and did NOT have a DOC....and i would say 1000% that i did not need one! my maitre'd was fantastic and took care of all of our needs. I had priced them out and am so happy my husband said we couldnt have one...it would have been a huge waste of money for us IMO, i think the ladies that have/had a DOC will recommend them bc they do not know what planning is like without having one...but it really is easy!
When i priced them out, they were between $400 and $900 depending on the amount of hours you wanted

Re: DOC
I am not married yet but my DOC has already been nothing short of amazing and helpful. I am a pretty organized person, and I am sure I could have 'handled' my wedding day without one... but honestly I want to to enjoy my wedding and let someone else worry about everything!!
I am using Christine at Piece of Cake Events ... her prices are very reasonable and she is just such a sweet and helpful person .... I am soooooo happy that I am working with her!!
ETA: My DOC has NOT done any of my planning. I hired her after all of my vendors were already booked and plans had been made. I hired my DOC to be there for the day of wedding, not to plan my wedding. I absolutely know what it is like to 'plan my wedding' and I STILL recommend a DOC to anyone!

My DOC did not do my planning, I did. I have planning for over 18 months for my wedding, and only hired a DOC a few months ago. MY reason for hiring one is because FMIL is nuts, and will change EVERYTHING on the wedding day, and I needed someone to make sure she doesn't touch anything!
My DOC was $300- and I get 2 for 12 hours....which worth it to be sane and not worry about crazy ladies messing stuff up.

Cheeky Glam has been a wonderful help for me especially getting a good deal on my honeymoon. They have an array of different prices that are not too expensive.

Re: DOC
i had A Modern Day Affair and I dont care how fantastic the Maitre D is (mine was great) things happen before you get the to reception hall. They set up the church for me, ran back to my house when I forgot my second wedding band for my honeymoon, called the florist to fix the boks that were just dropped off while I was getting ready, and my whole bridal party got to enjoy everything because they didnt have to worry about waiting on me. I have planned 2 wedding and with a doc helping on the day with this one I have no regrets. I bought eveything myself from linens to cake stand to chair covers and she made sure everything was great. they even kept my crazy mother away from all night.

Re: DOC
We are definitely getting a DOC. Even if the day ran perfectly smooth without them, we are getting one for the 'just in case.' We don't want to have to worry at all! (or more so, FH doesn't want ME to worry!)

Whether or not you need one is purely a personal decision. My DOC's did not PLAN plan my wedding for me. I wanted them there for my own peace of mind. And I'm glad I did it!!!!!!!!!

Re: DOC
Christine from Piece of Cake Events is AMAZING! I don't know what I would have done without her. It was the best investment that I made. She is reasonably priced.

Re: DOC
I started getting stressed out by my family and realized that a DOC could take that all away... so I went with A Modern Day Affair. I met with Laura and ever since the day I met her, my life has been so much easier! She has great recommendations and is always pleasant when I need to ask anything. I absolutely love her and recommend them.
