Hi! I am back and forth on whether or not I need to hire a DOC. I will have two bridal attendants the day of my wedding which the venue is providing. Do I need a Day of Coordinator too? Is anyone else considering one? I know they'll handle all the little details and issues that might or might not come up during the day.

DOC - hire one or don't hire one?
I am considering one. I am meeting with one on Sunday. I just don't want to have to worry about all the little details, and I want everything to go as well as it can. I am heavily leaning toward a buffet dinner, and I think she will be able to help make sure that people are eating at relatively the same time, instead of one group being completely done before another table starts. Might sound silly, but i'm worried about it! I also like that she will get everyone together for the pictures, make sure I get all the shots I want, and just take care of things. I can email you my quote if you would like!
I would love to hear other's experiences if they did hire one.

Sent! The quote I got from Cheeky Details was only for 5 hours, and it was only $100 less than the one I sent you. Let me know what you think!

DOC - hire one or don't hire one?
I have a DOC. I have a lot of small details that I need assistance with. So far she's been wonderful and has helped me feel at ease. I'm not worried about a thing going wrong the day of.
I'm using Karyn from Karyn Michael Events. I can't say enough about how great she is. Let me know if you want her quote.

I am also curious about this. At first I thought it was kind of crazy but I know I'm going to have a lot of DIY elements/decorations at the venue to set up is that something a DOC would assist with? Or is that more of an event planner? If possible, can I also get your quotes? Thanks :)

I'm curious what exactly they do that's beyond what the Maitre 'D and bridal attendants take care of.

DOC usually extends beyond just the day...they usually meet with you months previous to the wedding and help you create a theme (furniture, decor, set-up...minor details) or give recommendations on vendors. They usually meet with you again right before the wedding to confirm all the vendors and create a timeline for you. They will also review each aspect of your wedding to make sure each detail is accounted for. It's not always necessary to have a DOC if you're having your wedding in a traditional wedding hall with standard decor. If I wasn't bringing in all the decor/furniture and needed to make sure the floor plan was executed I would of skipped the DOC.
Here's what my DOC is doing:
Confirmation with vendors to ensure everything is on point
Distribution of final vendor payments & gratuities
Direct vendor load in and load out of all equipment
Setup of décor
Creation of a detailed event timeline & floor-plan that is distributed to vendors and staff
Organization of the ceremony processional and recessional
Communication with all vendors throughout the event to ensure everything is on time and contractually correct
Management of gifts & clients personal items delivered to the bridal suite or to the designated driver/car at the end of the event
Execute timing of first dance, speeches, cake cutting, bouquet toss, distribution of favors, etc.
Transport items to venue/hotel (DIY decor, favors, welcom bags, overnight bag, etc)
Coordination of shuttles and transportation
Set up and manage rehearsal dinner
Arrange escort cards/seating chart

I'd say hire one and I'm partial to it because I did and it was the best money I spent. I used Lindsey from Elite Glamour Events ( my sister had used her previously) and she made me feel so at ease. I remember with my sisters wedding she said that the venue will provide people but remember 'they work for the venue and I work for you' which really proved to be true when my sister wanted something, the venue people said no and next thing I saw Lindsey doing it. (Made my sister smile). I didn't have that on my day but what I had was the ease of knowing Lindsey was in my corner if I did need her!

I would also love quotes if you wouldn't mind sending them my way! As the wedding is getting closer I am starting to realize just how helpful a DOC may be!

Same. I'm really on the fence with this one. Would love any quotes that other brides have recently received. Thanks!
