I have an apt. with her next week

DOC are so very important.
I read posts about girls saying they're doing everything themselves...TRUST ME...I did all the planning and projects myself. I did SO MUCH (ask any of our guests) and they'll tell you how much we (I) did.
I think those that say they do not need one because they're doing the planning all themselves do not realize what a DOC does.
We paid for the entire wedding ourselves. After shelling out thousands of dollars we did not want to be bothered with the 'things' of the day. We just wanted to enjoy the day AND we did thanks to our DOC. She handled problems that came up with vendors, the hall, etc. We certainly didn't want to be bothered not to mention have it ruin our day. A couple of weeks before we sat with our DOC and reviewed every little detail about all the projects and items that were special to us. She made sure these things were done the way we wanted and stayed on top of them throughout the day. I'm sure those that are saying they're going to appoint family members or BMs to help do not realize...they're there to have fun and enjoy the day too and will be dragged here and there for pictures, etc.
Trust me...I didn't think we needed one either...until I realized what they actually do. If you're working on a lot of personal touches or have any thought of hiring one...go for it. They're out there with all different price ranges to fit any budget. Oh and shop around. Look for one that has an attention to detail and wants the day to be special and the way YOU and your FH want it to be. I met with one who..ugh...drill sargent!

i have absolutely no need to hire someone to plan my wedding. i'm doing just fine on my own. i also don't need anyone for the day of--that's what my BMs are for

I have no need to hire someone to plan my wedding either. However, the day of is an entirely different story. I have parking issues for the ceremony. The Chief of Police wants a phone # of someone to call in the event of a problem. I'm sure as heck not giving him my cell phone number to get a call in the middle of my vows!!!. The limo company is supposed to shuttle guests to and from parking to the ceremony. The owner of the limo company will be with me as my driver. If there is a problem with the driver doing the shutttling, I don't want to be the one having conversations about it. Decorations need to go up at the ceremony site. A friend offered to do it for free so I don't have to add that to my floral budget. I want someone to check and make sure it's done right. And that someone is certainly not going to be me.

There are so many other little details, like 'We Do' letter setup, and sand ceremony set up etc, that I just can't think about that day, and I don't want my family and friend worrying about it either.

I have her the day before you! She is great!

I hired her because:
1) I have horrid luck, and I want someone there in case something goes horribly wrong (but I don't want that burden/pressure to fall on my parents, siblings or BMs)

2) I want EVERYONE to be able to enjoy the day 100%. I don't want to have to put anyone in charge of anything, where they will feel badly if they do a bad job. Also I need a DOC to give the vendors their final payments cause I have a feeling the Best Man will be a little too drunk to handle that task!

3) I am a detail oriented person, and I won't have time to be going around checking everything, so I want a DOC to make sure everything is EXACTLY as I want it

I hired her because:
