DOC vs Maitre 'd ?

Hello,

Anyone can help me what is the diff between them?
I am having ceremony and reception at the same place at Watermill and I have small bridal party ( 3 bm, 1 moh, 3 grooms men, and 1 bm ) and 1 fg and 1 rb.

Do you guys think I need a doc ?

TIA,
Nadia

No. Anything like me and I like to have control of everything!

I don't think you really need a DOC since both the ceremony and reception are at the same place. Unless you have alot of odds and ends that requires you to be on top of certain people then, go for a DOC. I had a small BP and relatively small wedding (95 persons) and it was very manageable. I was not running around. I enjoyed my wedding.Hope this helped.

I don't think so. I didn't have one and my maitre'd was perfect. Had a small bridal party and about 125 peeps.

I am a wedding planner and I must say it is so beneficial to have a DOC. I am not just saying that because I have coordinated many weddings. Please keep in mind that there is always something be it minor or major, that happens on the day of your wedding. You dont want the responsibility of having your guests, or bridal party handle problems on the day of your wedding. While the bridal attendant or maitre'd can handle some problems, they can't always pay attention to the little things. They are to busy making sure your reception is being set-up while the ceremony is taking place or that you arrive to the reception hall on time and are escorted to the bridal room. A DOC is much more than that. If a pearl or rhinestone on your dress falls off they can sew it back, if your limo driver is demanding more money and you just dont have it they handle that, if your florist leaves before lighting the candles on the centerpieces the DOC handles that, if your bridal party is clueless on how to hold their boquet or the groomsmen's arm a DOC handles that. The list goes on and on and on. I can't tell you how many things I have to fix for my brides on the day of their wedding that a Bridal attendant just could not do.

I hired a DOC b/c i want my mind at ease on my wedding day. My motto on my wedding day is dont as me ask my wedding planner.

I did not hire a professional DOC because to me that is just a waste of money. My cousin was my DOC and she was excellent she made sure everything was taken care of down to the minute details. All my guests were so impressed with the coordination and details of my wedding. If one can find a friend or even a family member who is going to dedicate the time to take on this task then delegate that person and you can save alot of bucks in your pocket that can go towards a house or something of importance.
I got married at the Coral House and our Maitre'd was in sync with everything so she along with my DOC(who is my cousin) was perfect.

Thanks ladies

basically we ( me and fh ) are the one who plan this wedding, no-one help us. His family is here but ???? I think they don't really care. and all of my family is in another city and some of them in another country.

So I am just little bit worry about my day. So far I already have all of my vendors. The only think that concern me is on my wedding day.
But we are still debating about the money and it is worthy or not ?
I thought that maitre'd are supposed to help us coordinate everything from ceremony to reception... well I think I am wrong.

I've said it a million times, if I could go back and redo my wedding, I'd hire a DOC.

So many things were going astray (stupid late photographer) and it all had to go through me. Mom and MOH knew what was supposed to happen, but they were so busy trying to keep me calm that they were no help on the coordination.

I really wish I'd had a DOC.

I had a DOC and it made my day alot easier. Like someone said if you have alot of details you want someone to pay attention to, a DOC would be great for that. You can also let them handle any problems that may come up. My DOC told me she has never done a 'perfect wedding' alot of brides dont realize it but theres always something (even if its small) that goes wrong.

DOC's fees range..from $250-1000. Im sure you can find someone that will suit your budget.

I hired a DOC and I don't regret it ever! Hiring her was the best decision I ever made! I was a complete cotrol freak about the details but as we got closer and closer too many unexpected details got in the way of the calls I needed to make, lists I forgot to check etc. AND it was all dure to people & things I couldn't control if I wanted to.

My DOC didn't just see to it that DH & I were taken care of - she saw to it that our families enjoyed the day as well. She also was very helpful when we had our pictures taken and reminded the photographer countless times of pictures we needed to take - my mind was in a blur and I would never have remembered.
Plus it's the little things, she was on top of DHs jacket being buttoned for pictures, his tie was straight, she was under my MOH's dress sewing her waist seam when it tore...the list of things goes on & on.

Is it an extra expense that you can get away without? Sure. But is it one worth investing for your own sanity? Most definitely!

My DOC wasn't expesive at all either - FM me if you want more info!

Re: DOC vs Maitre 'd ?

I'm also getting married at my reception hall and I hired a DOC. Even though my wedding isn't until May, I already feel better that I hired one. One of my concerns was that I wouldnt be able to get everyone to the reception hall for a real rehearsal, so my DOC is coming to the RD to get to know everyone and do a mock rehearsal at the place. But I also don't want to have to worry about everything else that can go wrong - I want her to do the worrying for me! If it's in your budget, I would at least meet w/ some and see what they have to offer. Then go w/ your instinct ...
