Hi, what is everyone feeling about DOC ? We booking our vendors ourself ... do we need doc? how is everyone going about it? how much are they normally? Thanks

what is everyone feeling about DOC? They are not necessary but they are great to have the day of if you have room in the budget for one.
We booking our vendors ourself ... do we need doc? A DOC doesn't necessarily help you with the booking. They may give suggestions but a actual Wedding Planner would help you do all of that. A DOC will usually accompany you at your final run through with the RH so that he/she knows the exact set up for everything the day of. On the day, your DOC will help with any vendor issues that may arise so you won't have to worry about it. They will be there to assist in you getting your dress on (if needed) and should always have some kind of emergency with everything and anything you would need. They will check to make sure the church decor is set up and then make sure the RH is set up properly before you arrive.
how much are they normally? Price range on exactly what type of service you are looking for and who you book with. Some DOC's are higher in demand and may cost more than others. Also, you don't have to book one for a full day. Some offer half day packages, some may even just go to the RH to make sure the setup is ok and that's it. Do some research on different DOC's that are recommended on this site and see what packages they offer. Also, think really hard about what you really would want them for. If all you really want is for someone to make sure the setup is how you envision and to make sure all the vendors have arrived on time, it may not be as expensive.

They are there to make sure everything runs smoothly and on time. If something should go wrong, they fix it.
We didn't have a DOC and our day went off without a single hitch!

I am having one for several reasons; two of the main one's being so that I can be assured that the RH will be set up as specified and to run interference on the day. LIW has quite a few DOCs that are affordable and come with great reviews/references from fellow LIW brides.

My DOC was AMAZING!! She made our Church programs for us. She held all my vendor envelopes and paid and tipped everyone for me. I love her. She never let our drinks get empty, she took me in the bathroom too! She did every little thing you don't think about. Had copies of all our contracts and contacted all my vendors the week of to make sure everything was set.

i thought of hiring one for my wedding, but honestly, between the MD and my trusted BMs - it turns out i won't need them. the 2 MD at Sand Castle did an excellent job and all my BMs went above and beyond to make my day perfect.

i want someone from the outside of the RH who knows my vision and plan for my wedding so its executed the right way. Plus if something goes wrong I dont want to know and I dont want my family having to worry about vendors ect the day of. Plus my mom gets crazy getting ready for things so I dont want her to stress.

Aside from the aforementioned areas like ensuring all vendors are timely, setting up per contract, etc I want someone who will keep people out of MY way. I am taking over the bridal suite and no one gets in without my approval
I want the ceremony to go well so I my DOC will take a part in this as well.

Nobody can get into the bridal suite without you wanting them to. Most bridal suites have combination locks and YOU choose the combination.
