First of all hi girls (all the sane ones ) I wanted to share that all my blood work came back normal , thank god and we heard the baby's heartbeat again..the sweetest sound I've ever heard.
I will be 19 weeks tomorrow and she said I am 4 1/2 months along, I thought I was in my fifth month..very strange. One book tells me my fifth months starts on your 18th week and another book/website says the fifth month starts on your 17th week. So if I'm 19 weeks tomorrow how can I still be in my fourth month??
Hmmmm she said pay no attention to months and go by weeks..I don't think she is right, any comments? Thanks!!
Level 2 sonogram is Wednesday and I will report back.

Re: Doctor's Appointment Last Night...Question?
Glad to hear that all is going well!
I know it's very confusing about the dates/months. What to expect when you're expecting organizes their book by months, but in the heading of each chapter it says what weeks each month includes. So, I'm 24 weeks, and in my 6th month, but I don't say I'm 6 months, I say I'm 5 months, since I haven't actually completed 6 months until week 27.
If you're 4 1/2 months, you're technically IN your 5th month, but have only COMPLETED 4 1/2 months, make sense? You can do this with age too, I turned 27 in November, so I completed 27 years, but I'm IN my 28th year.
Another way I figure out how many months I am is to go by my LMP, which was Sept 7th, so every 7th of hte month, I've completed another month. On March 7th I will have completed 6 months (but will only be 26 weeks).
Thanks ladies, check out the above website, sorry I don't know how to just link it.
it's www.askdrsears.com
that's why I confused. Nina, how are you feeling??? are you on target with the weight gain? Doctor claims I should slow down, I only gained 10 pounds so far, is that alot???

Re: Doctor's Appointment Last Night...Question?
I have always found the months and weeks confusing myself - here's how it was explained to me. You have to go by weeks to be most exact because you are pregnant for 40 weeks - which is really about 10 months when you think about it. That's because of the complicated way of estimating your due date by using the first day of your last period, that assumes you are pregnant for a few weeks when you are not. So weeks is more accurate for the doctors. And if you take 40 and divide it by 3 (trimesters) you would be going into a new month about every 13 - 14 weeks or so (rather than 12).
However, I find that people who are not pregnant, or have never been pregnant don't always get the 'weeks' thing. So for months, you just go by your due date. For example, I am now 29 weeks pregnant. Which means, to me, that I am in my third trimester (only 11 weeks to go).
I also consider myself just about 6 1/2 months pregnant (Due date May 13, Feb 13 just passed so, May minus February is 3 - I will be 7 months on March 13). It just makes more sense to non-pregnant people.
The weeks are definitely more accurate. When I read the books, I read for both months! It can't hurt to jump ahead! The most accurate info I find is when a book or website breaks it down by weeks rather than months.
I hope this didn't confuse you even more...I had a really hard time with this myself at about the 20 week mark! I've stopped worrying about timing and just enjoying every minute!

Re: Doctor's Appointment Last Night...Question?
Nubride, I'm feeling pretty good. The last couple of days, I feel like a ate a turkey, and walking for more than 10 minutes gives me light cramps, all that stretching going on in there. At 24 weeks, I've gained 16 pounds, and this is too much according to my MW--she said watch your weight, b/c i'm only 5 feet tall and want natural childbirth, she doesn't want me to have problems. I was already about 10-15 pounds overweight pre-pregnancy. But, I'm not going to worry about this. I'm trying to eat right, excercise is not happening much, I hope to get out walking more when the temps go up. Thanks for asking. How are you?

Re: Doctor's Appointment Last Night...Question?
Yep! 11 weeks to go! I cannot believe it!! Time is just flying by!
I feel great. The baby is constantly active - I don't know when it ever sleeps!! I have a real kicker in here! I have only gained 7 pounds (which is probably best since I was overweight to begin with) and everything is going very very well with the baby.
I am getting uncomfortable sleeping, but otherwise everything is good. I'm just getting so excited now! We don't know the sex, but for some reason I feel like it is a boy...don't know why! Guess we'll know pretty soon!
We're starting our childbirth classes in a month...it's really here now!!
