For a plain platinum men's band, with comfort fit 4mm.
We just got the quote back from our jewler. FH wants to go ahead with the order, but that sounded high to me...

Re: Does $ 1000 sound right
My FH and I ordered his 4mm platinum band online and paid around 450. We did not look in stores too much, just to get an idea of the width he wanted but 1000 sounds a little high.

Yeah, I just saw the same band online for $ 450. I hope he didn't place the order yet.
If he did they are making my band in platinum, maybe they can apply the metal they ordered for my band not his.....

That sounds high to me too - but maybe depends on where you're shopping. My FH got a plat band w/diamonds for $1200, but we did get a deal cuz he got my e-ring there - it was originally $1500-$1600 I think

Re: Does $ 1000 sound right
I just told FH, he already placed the order and is so sad. He is soo bummed and feels he wasted $ 500.
He is also stuck at an airport becasue he missed his flight. I only told him over the phone because I wanted to know if he placed the order after he got the quote. He told them we'd take it
But again $ 500 extra for a ring he should wear 50 +++ years is not to bad in the over-all...
I feel so bad because he sounded sooo sad.....

Yeah, I tried to say, well they are hand making it for especially you so the quality should be better than the online ring. He is sooo not a ring person so that didn't help much

Re: Does $ 1000 sound right-- OH NOOO
$1000 is about right... Several people told me the price of platinum has got up a lot recently. The ones you are seeing for a lot less probably weigh very little and are not very substantial.

If it makes you feel any better...I am constantly over paying for things! It's mostly because I am not a shopper...I don't give it the time or the energy.
Look at it this way...you get what you pay for!!!

The price of Platinum fluctuates, and it also depends upon the quality of platinum. The price sounds about right to me and it sounds like it'll be a really beautiful quality platinum.

Thank you all for your input on this posting.
I saw FH's band on Friday and I am so pleased.
It is very good quality and VERY heavy. They did a great job and I'm glad we went to the jewelers than designed my e-ring and are making my band

We just bought ours last month and paid about that-maybe a little more because my husband wanted it very wide (and he has chunky fingers-lol). I wouldn't second guess your decision.
