Does anybody use a co-sleeper?

Does anybody use a co-sleeper?

Sophia hates the bassinet. She'll lay in it during the day while I brush my teeth and go to the bathroom, but she won't stay in it at night. I have also tried her crib, which she's not too into either. Unfortunately, I have taken to taking her in bed with me in the nursery (nice flat bed, no down comforter or big pillows...) for the few hours that we do sleep. I just couldn't lose any more sleep and now I am really regretting it because we BOTH love it so much! I am thinking of getting a co-sleeper to pull up next to my own bed and hoping that the closeness will still be there yet she'll be safer. I can't help but lay there thinking of all the warnings about people rolling over on babies in the middle of the night, etc. Not to mention my fear of SIDS - these things are enough to make you lose sleep on their own! Forget the baby crying! She doesn't get to sleep in our big bed now with her daddy. He just sleeps to soundly for me to not get overly concerned....

Any advice? Any other mommies have the baby in bed? Is the co-sleeper worth it? If so - which one do you have?

Jenny I have the mini-cosleeper. We love it. It was great because I could just reach over and get him anytime. I don't think it is a waste of money at all. Now that he is bigger he sleeps in our bed with us. I know a lot of people tell you not to do that but it works for me and a lot of new research says the benefits of co-sleeping outweigh the risks. I know that Niha has Lyla in her bed too. You could FM her also for her take on it.

Here are some articles for you and the co-sleeper site I bought mine from.

Nicolas also initially hated the bassinet, and I was also scared of co-sleeping (mostly because Patrick rolls over onto Arnold... imagine what he'd do to a baby who CAN'T scoot out of the way! ). There were a few nights where he slept next to my bed in the bouncy seat, or he slept in the swing and I slept on the den couch.

I kept trying him back in the bassinet though, and one day BAM! He went down in the bassinet, fell asleep in a few minutes and stayed asleep for 6 hours! He now sleeps in it for up to 9 hours at night (notice I say UP TO. Not every night is that good... don't I WISH! )

I think a co-sleeper is a great idea if you and Sophia want to stay close. I was worried that if we got one Arnold would end up strong arming Nicky right out of it!

Jenn it was around $125.00, I believe.

Afterwards you can use it as a pack and play
