Does anyone...

have IVF coverage with their health insurance?

If so, what company and plan is it?

Re: Does anyone...

I did, but I never had to use it. I have Empire's Goevernment Employee's Plan, and they cover 2 IVF attempts.

But thats only if you work for the gov't, right?

I don't know. I'm a teacher... I don't know if I'm considered a gov't employee... ?
I guess maybe I am.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

I hate insurance! Why is it all so confusing?

I need to find a policy that includes IVF.

I know Oxford has one up to $10,000 but that is just one try and what if I don't get pg the first time?

We have the Empire Plan, too. DH works for the MTA. I think it's the same, 2 bouts of IVF are covered.

Good luck!!

Re: Does anyone...

Is Empire the same as Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield?

Re: Does anyone...

It is BCBS, but a different 'division' of it, I believe!! Sorry, I'm not positive!!

Kathi, I think you're right, but I'm not positive either.

Re: Does anyone...

Steve has GHI I think we might have either 2 or 3 attempts, BUT he is a city employee.

If I have to go that route I have to switch to his insurance because mine only gives you a lifetime cap of $10,000.

Re: Does anyone...

Michelle, do you have Oxford?

Scotts new job will have that with the $10,000 cap. I heard rumors though that Oxford will be discontinuing that kind of coverage upon renewal of the policy (at least for small businesses).

Our luck @@

The company might be looking to change insurance companies anyway so I thought I'd give them some ideas on who to go to

Re: Does anyone...

No Lisa I have United Healthcare and they will only give you 10,000 for treatment for your lifetime, which really isn't very much

Re: Does anyone...

I think thats what Oxford has, but I'm pretty sure the $10,000 cap is on advanced infertility services such as IVF, FET, etc.

I have Aetna now and it covers my surgeries, testing and 6 IUI's, but not IVF at all

Its really amazing that these companies offer you practically NOTHING for these procedures. I wish we lived in a state that had mandated advanced infertility procedures.

All I know -- b/c I recently looked at my plan too is that they cover 90% of fertility up to $25,000. I would think that would include IVF treatments -- but I'm not sure.

I work in NC but my insurance is through United Healthcare.

All these questions that you ladies are bringing up are all valid and make me take a closer look at what these darn plans are offering. I have Oxford, I guess I better take a closer look.

Re: Does anyone...

I originally thought that my current policy covered IVF. It says it covers 6 courses of artificial insemination per lifetime. I didn't realize that it meant IUI's not IVF until I called them to confirm.

Boy, I was NOT happy.

Re: Does anyone...

Most plans will not cover infertility treatments at length. Some give you doctor visits and meds but few give any 'real' coverage for other procedures. I think mine has a $10 or $20K cap on a one-time procedure. The sucess rates of some procedures is very low, so if you need more than one try you will probably have to pay it out of pocket.

sorry- it really stinks.
