I have not paid for a haircut in at least 18yrs. I just do it myself. I cut off about 4-5 inches Wed. and everyone at work last night was asking where I got it done. I'm sure that it is not perfect, but my hair is so curly that no one could notice. I just can't bring myself to pay someone $50 to cut a straight line.
Just wondering if I am the only cheap person out there.

If I could cut a straight line, I would do it too.

I trim my own hair. One time I chopped off like 5 inches because it was just way too hot for long hair. I was surprised; it came out looking really good!

If I could, I definately would, but I wouldn't even trust myself trying to cut somebody else's hair.

If I would, I could, but there is no way I would even try it. I can pretty much predict disaster. I get overly sensitive about haircuts. Have even been known to cry when other people can't even notice a difference. Serious weak spot for me. I pay way too much for haircuts, but I live in NYC, where, as you know, nothing is actually reasonably priced. (Ok, not nothing, but very very few things).

Make sure iher hair is wet, use a comb and super-sharp scissors.
Also, before and after cutting, pull the hair taut to make sure pieces are even.

Re: Does anyone else cut their own hair?
i never had a hair cut untill I was about 11. My mom always cut it on the backsteps with the giant kitchen scissors. It was easy when my hair was 1 length.
I did it my self once in college--and had my friend even up the part I couldn't reach. I have also cut my own bangs--they were way too short! They looked good when they gre in though.
I have also cut other people's hair-- DH got a weird haircut that was too long on top, so I fixed that, b/c we wer goignout that day! I used to help my roomate do her own hair too.

My hair has angles and it is layered, so the only thing I cut are my bangs.....sometimes they come out good, sometimes not so good.

I cut my own hair, layers and all. People frequently want to know where I got my hair cut because they like it I also cut my mom's hair and my aunt's.

No way!! I give you TONS of credit. Being a curly girl too -- I could just see the disaster I would create. I hate getting my hair cut anyway...
But I've been lucky, my mom is a beautician/hair stylist and has owned a salon for my entire life, so I've never had to worry about hair care or paying for it!
