OMG that show makes me parinod! FH tells me I should stop watching it, but I can't help it. It's just crazy how these women do not know and the crazy ways in which they find out and then immediately deliver.

Yes its crazy! My Mother didn't find out she was pregnant with me until she was 7months! She had her period every month, and didn't gain weight because she ran 5 miles everyday. She happened to go to the doctor for something and thats when she found out she was pregnant! No morning sickness, no pains, no wild food cravings, etc...
You don't get your period while you are pregnant, it is physically impossible. You can spot around the time that your period is due, which is why many women think they are not pregnant, but you cannot get your actual period.
Yes but for people like my mother who have unusually light and irregular periods, this would seem normal to them! She thought nothing was wrong!
Oh no ITA - I know some women don't have normal periods and that's why they don't realize that the spotting is NOT their period - I was just clarifying.
Haha I'd know if I missed mine one month. That damn thing is the bane of my existence!!

i think that show is 99% fake. the only way that's possible is if you have a super micro alien baby or if you are a really big girl ... or never have periods.
so, no periods. big-girls. micro alien babies.
i dont know. it just ain't happening.
babies all kick around and make you toss your cookies and hurt your back and make you love weird foods and hate awesome foods and a million other things.
there's just no way.
My brother was TEN POUNDS when he was born at home. TEN! My mom just didn't know how pregnant she was. She was thinking 2 or 3 months.

This happend to my friend's sister.
I honestly believe in some cases, the woman didn't want to be pregnant...and basically was in denial. I'm sure not ALL of them..but there are definatly people in so much denial they convince themselves they arent pregnant.

um.. I hate to dispute this, but a friend of mine's g/f (well now wife) was preggers at 15 and didn't know she was until month 7 when she woke up with a belly. she had her period all those 7 month.. AND a friend of mine was preggers she got pregnant in February and didn't find out until late May.. she had her period all those months.. and it was HEAVY and PAINFUL.. which is normal for her, we've always had it together and its the same for both of us... she missed in in May, took a test and found out she was... she thought it was a month and well she had some complications I won't get into, but it ends up she was further along.. and there was no inbetween because of when she last did the deed. and lets see.. my mother was 4 months when she found out she was pregnant with my brother, she also had her period, only reason she found out was because she was throwing up non-stop and went to the dr and they did a test for something else and voila... same with another friend of mine... she got her period 2½ weeks before going to the dr and finding out she was preggers... and my sisterinlaw... she got her period when she was 7½ month into her pregnancy.. I just remember her calling my mother saying she got it and everyone crying thinking she was miscarrying... my nephew is now 12 years old... granted thats not a normal period, but she bleed... A LOT. it scared the crap outta me walking into the bathroom and seeing it. so, yea... you still can bleed and get cramps and etc,
and from a totally personal experience- I started bleeding 12 days before my period was due, I freaked out thinking was wrong, I didn't have cramps or a migraine or bloating.. infact I looked thinner... I went to the dr, yea, my doctor gave me a blood test and urine checking to see if I was preggers... saying that it is NORMAL to bleed during pregnancy and she saw how much blood there was (ew)... 2 weeks later she made me take another test.. I wasn't pregnant, it was an abnormal period.. but my DR said it could have been a possibility.

Re: Does anyone else get freaked out
This happened TWICE to a girl FH was friends with in high school!! The kids are now 4 and 2. She wasn't a twig or anything but she wasn't huge either... and she had a light period each month from what I heard... She went into the hospital for stomach pains and out came a baby.. BOTH TIMES!! Her and the father wound up getting married and are still married.. They were high school sweethearts. It's just so crazy......

Sorry, you can bleed during your pregnancy but you cannot get your period. It is physically impossible. Getting your period is dispelling the uterine lining that nourishes the baby, so if you dispel that lining you would not be able to support a child. It is physically impossible. It would result in miscarriage.

but where does the blood come from? wouldn't that be uterine lining, which is technically a period? maybe not full on... but still..
(i know, this topic is getting nasty- sorry)

But this is known as a FALSE period because there's no egg.

Okay I'm not saying its impossible. But how many of you girls are with me? If it was ME -- I'd know.
I pay attention to my body and cycle and if any (not even ALL) of the systems were present I'd know SOMETHING was up especially if it didn't go away.
ESPECIALLY when they have girls on there who had been pregnant before! It's like 'Okay c'mon enough already.'

i can see what you are saying but i think the point made earlier about denial could be a piece of it, but also on the show (from what I've seen and I could be wrong) a lot of the girls are young, teenagers, so they may not be as aware of their periods, they may still get irregular periods, and it may just not even occur to them to consider the possibility of pregnancy. i mean i watch it and i think *** also, because I'm hyper-sensitively aware and have a super regular period, but combine the possibility of denial with the age and experience and knowledge of the girls being shown on the show. And also the ladies who shared stories about their mothers - there are women who don't gain a lot of weight and don't struggle with morning sickness, and cravings could be mistakenly attributed to period-related. While I get your point and it seems far fetched and near-impossible for me as well, I think this show demonstrates more than anything that sexual and health education in high schools needs to be amped up so girls understand the signs and symptoms!

Re: Does anyone else get freaked out
honestly the show freaks me out, and when i watched I was convinced that my stomach was kicking and had a heart beat.
What I don't get is how they know to film these girls if the girls do not know they are pregnant?
I would hope that I will know, but my period is all way irregular and super light. i am currently on the pill and I only get my period for 1-2 days.
