Does anyone else have a FI that thinks that all of this gift giving is ridiculus?

Does anyone else have a FI that thinks that all of this gift giving is ridiculus?

We are paying for our wedding 99% ourselves, but I still feel that our parents, ushers, readers etc. should get a gift.

He is getting me so upset because he thinks that I am running around like crazy and spending unnecessary money. I am working so hard and I feel like he doesn't appreciate it,

He feels that people don't deserve it and he said 'This isn't Christmas'

Meanwhile he hasn't done anything for this wedding. I am lucky he knows when it is.

Am I wrong to think our parents should get a gift even if they are not paying?????

Usher?

Reader?

Thanks

well here is how i think of it

even though our parents aren't paying for our wedding ( although my parents are helping a little) they still paid for my food, clothing and shelter for the past 24 years. . .so i think they deserve a little something. . . i mean not even bc of their financial support - but bc of everything they have done for us!

i am a BIG believer in weddings as a union of two families NOT just the B&G and i think that the parents DEFINITELY deserve something

of course, you dont have to go broke - parents usually like more sentimental gifts anyway

i am probably just getting my readers a bottle of wine - nothing crazy

and ushers - they are different from groomsmen? i wouldnt get them anything but i am not sure bc i am not having any.

my DH kind of felt the same way---when we were trying to figure out gifts and i told him that he needed to think of gifts for his guys, he was like 'um, why?'

but in the end he just gave up and realized that these ppl were spending some money to be in our wedding, so thanking them with a little something, wasn't too bad.

I mean, unless your parents didnt raise you or havent seen you in many, many many years....I think they deserve a gift. A gift is only showing that you appreciate what they have done for you your ENTIRE life..not just wedding realated. So Im going to have to disagree with ur FH on this one..

ohhh dont worr\y ~ you are NOT alone ~ FH is not a gift giving kind of guy & he said when he was in wedding parties in the past they never did things that we are doing... but i am huge gift giver (I love it and enjoy it) so we are giving gifts to all groomsmen, ushers, parents, etc...

FH has been good about it, but I know he feels it is ridiculous. In a way it sort of is when ya think about it!! His stepmom laughed at us when we told her we wanted to give her a gift- she's like 'YOU're the ones who should be getting a gift! Why should we?'
