does anyone else have parents that criticize everything you do?

I swear, every decision i make for this wedding is critcized.

The amount we're spending on photography was critcized (even though other places we looked at were more expensive).

The cake topper we wanted was critcized.

First I got criticized for not wanting a limo to bring me the 2 miles down the road to the hall, and then i got criticized for a) the cost and b) the size.

I got yelled at for getting buttercream, not whipped cream.

And then tonight I got screamed at for wanting to put together little oot bags (just water/gum/mints/pretzles - literally would have been like $5/piece).

And, to top it all off, all i've been hearing for the past year was how stupid i was for getting married now and not waiting until 2007.

Oh, and everytime i get upset for being critcized over everything, my mom goes and plays the martyr to make me feel even worse.

I've seriously had it. I can't do anything right. I don't even care about the stupid wedding, I just want to be married and have it over with.

I swear, no one tells you what's supposed to be the 'happiest' day of your life is preceded by the most miserable year of your life...

sorry, i just needed to vent. i just can't take them anymore...

Hang in there, it is almost here. Wedding stress gets to parents and familes too, unfortuantely, and they should leave you alone and let you enjoy YOUR day!

just a few more days, and then it will be OVERRRRRRRRRR. Its hard for other people to see the big picture, but on that day, when everything comes together, and people comment on how great everything is, theyll finally understand.

And if they dont, their loss.... you gots you a Husband

I understand. I was told my 'details' were stupid and wasteful. Then the day came and my mom said how beautiful the details were!

I am sure the same will happen for you. It will all be wonderful and then you can say I TOLD YOU SO!!! and isn't that a great feeling

I have to admit, my Mom has been good about the wedding as far as being involved. (She has never been known for being involved). But she has also been very critical in ways that make no sense, for what reason, I do not know. Like, when I mentioned certain people I want to invite-- 'Why do you want to invite them? That's ridiculous.' When I said I need to get a cake topper-- 'I think cake toppers looks silly.' Or when I mentioned that my father should give a toast-- 'I've never been to a wedding where I saw the father give a toast, that's cheesy.' Just weird things like that. I know that the time leading up to the wedding can be very stressful, and that's fine, but just don't let it ruin your day. You can go crazy on the days leading up to, but when it comes to that day, that is all about you and your sweetheart. Just focus on that.

ITS NOT THEIR WEDDING

In 10 years, will you remember that you had what YOU wanted, or will you remember how happy YOUR PARENTS were?

OMG--I had the exact same thing happen over the limos. Plus, a whole lot of other stuff. I cannot even imagine how it will be when the wedding comes closer. FM me anytime.

SOrry to hear that....my mom drove me crazy the week before the wedding too despite me being really sick! AHHhhhhhhhhhh, it will be a wonderful day in the end...almost there, hang in there.

hang in there! your mom doesn't see the ' whole picture' of the wedding that you have.... once she sees how everything comes together and sees people enjoying all the little details, she'll love it and you can say ' i told ya so!' just try to ignore them for the next week, and get ready for your day!

I am going through the same nightmare! My parents put in their two cents whenever they feel something isn't 'formal' enough for them.

My FH and I are tye-dye wearing kind of people when we are not dressed up for work.

I want to add a few touches but they have all been 'nixed' - UGH!!!

I know about the mother Martyr - my mother is the same way - just let it go hun and cheer up the day is almost here and gone - we all go through this you are not alone!
