Does anyone else have registry guilt?

Does anyone else have registry guilt?

My mom told me to put nice things on my registry so we can start out with nice things....but I feel guilty because everything is so expensive?

How many comforter sets did you guys register for? I put a really cheap bed in the bag set that someone bought already, and now I hate it because I found something much nicer and I feel like my taste changed and I am already 'decorating' in my mind. Today I added a NICE set of Nautica comforter, sheets etc set. Its not too expensive but I feel guilty....anyone feel this way?

LOL - I hate to say it, but I did not have registry guilt AT ALL! FH did though, but he got over it! LOL... this is the ONLY time you will get really nice things and not have to feel guilty about it. Enjoy the registering part. Put another comforter set on your registry... there is nothing wrong with 2... it's nice to change every once in a while!

I had 100% guilt when it came to registring. I registered for little cheap things, I then got phone calls from family members telling me to go back and register for more things and nice things. They were having a hard time picking things for me. so I suggest putting anything you want on there, if something is expensive then 2 of your girlfriends or even bridal party will chip in for it. I had a lot of gifts that people chipped in for, it was probably easier for them too!

Don't feel guilty. Many friends and family members will chip in for the expensive items or buy pieces. My bedding was very expensive and I got the skirt from one person, the sheets from another, etc. Your Bridal Party may also be looking to chip in for a really nice and expensive item. For my MOH's wedding we all chipped in and got her all of her bedding and lingerie. Also, there will be people that are more generous than you'd imagine! I was very taken back by how generous all of my shower guests were!

I didn't. I registered for things in all price categories - I don't feel guilty b/c I have expensive and cheap things - so people can purchase something in the price range that they feel comfortable with. If I don't get the expensive things I don't - oh well.

I will tell you we were very surprised with our e-party gifts. We got half of our china place settings, a number of our crystal, our entire flatware (early wedding gift), a vase and some serving items (creamer, sugar, pitcher) etc. that doesn't include the appliances we needed as well.

I wouldn't feel guilty in the least - if people don't want to spend that amount they simply won't so - if you want something put it on and don't worry about it - just know you might not get it

when dh and i started out we lived together for 4 years before getting married. everything we had were caldo $10 specials. registering is for upgrades...better stuff. Even stuff you may not purchase yourself because of the $$. If they could not afford what you put, they would get you something else. My shower I rec'd my vaccuum, 4 people pitched in and bought it. WHich was great besause I needed it. Lots of times people do that too.

I didn't feel guilty at all. That's the only time you can ask for things like that.

We did at first. FH was more concerned than I was. But we realized, if people don't get us this stuff, we will get it anyway. Because we both like it. We also tried to register for gifts in different price ranges.

I agree with Sanmik. This is the only time I can ever be this demanding and materialistic.

Choose what you want, like and need. Just make sure you register for items in all price ranges. In my case, my hunsband & my immediate families bought us the more expensive gifts we had listed.

I felt guilty at first too but Kelly is right...GET OVER IT!!!! When I first went I registered for not so great things.....then I went back and reregistered for the stuff I REALLY wanted......It' the ONLY time you'll be able to do this so register for what you really want

I had it when registering for my wedding...but moreso when I registered at Babies R Us for my Peanut...

I agree that you should register for what you want and more importantly what you *need*.

For the wedding I went to on Saturday, the bride and groom registered for 2 Lalique statues that are $1400 each!! (among MANY other $$$ things). Yikes.

Thanks girls

Lalique statues- OMG! Are they nuts LOL!

I will put things on there and hope for the best

If I don't get it, I can always save up$ and get it myself, hopefully.

Re: Does anyone else have registry guilt?

i have a mix of prices on mine but I was feeling guilty about the expensive ones, and thinking no one would buy them for me... but then I realized... years later down the road what am I going to want to look at, a wedding is really where you get the nice stuff you might not buy yourself...plus family members might go in together and jointly get you one of the larger gifts...

Guilty? Was I supposed to feel guilty? I must have missed the memo on that because I did not have one iota of guilt. Many times I go for the biggest present on the registry and then try to get other people to go in on it with me...I know that is also what people did for me.

Re: Does anyone else have registry guilt?

I just registered at bed bath and beyond this weekend, and there are some things that I know people will probably not buy, but I put that stuff on the list anyway so if we want to buy it later, we get a discount. I did feel guilty registering for all this stuff, but I do have things on there that are less than $5 and, so there is a budget for everyone. I guess I am just feeling guilty because I am new at this, but like you all said, Ill get over it!
On a side note:
FH had me laughing my a$$ off in the store while we were registering. He said to me, 'I didnt know that we got to walk around the store and register'. I was like 'how do you think people register than'?.
He says 'I thought that you sat at the desk with the guy and he shows you stuff out of a book and he asks you if you like the item, and then its added to the registry'. How did he come up with this conclusion? When we were in Macys in NYC (and this was months ago), we saw people signing up while sitting at the desk and he remembers me saying 'those people are registering', and he thought thats how they registered the whole time! SO cute, such a guy!

Re: Does anyone else have registry guilt?

not so much registering...but getting the presents was harder for me...

I hated being at the shower and opening the gifts...I felt like I was forcing people to give things to me...
