Re: Does anyone else have this problem
dh hates to dance, i love to dance, we were going to take dance place and the studio we contacted never called us,
we just kind of swayed along to our first dance, and then miraculously dh danced during the night, he kind of knew he had to, and our wedding was only 85 people so i think he felt comfortable with everyone that was there

FH HATES to dance and I love to dance (i really have no rhythm though) so we are going to take lessons somewhere. FH never dances with me at weddings so I told him that is not happening at our own wedding.

I HATE to dance and I am so self conscious... DH doesn't like to either, but it was fine at the wedding... I was dreading it and having nightmares over it, but it was fine... And we made everybody else start dancing like 30 seconds into it, so it ended up being ok. You'll be fine!!

my fh is shy too, and i think he isn't the best dancer either i looked into lessons and some places give a free first lesson....that way you can try it out and see what you think....that would probably help. i am going to run it by my fh!!

Mine said the same thing, I tell you, the day of the wedding, he was getting jiggy with it with no problems. His shyness went out the window that day, try not to worry about it too much. He will come around.

Re: Does anyone else have this problem
dh has two left feet!!!!
HE IS THE REASON WHITE BOYS HAVE A BAD RAP ON THE DANCEFLOOR!!! honest.
he was willing to stand there, with his arms around me, and SWAY! it's all that was needed.
after a few drinks in him, my sister got him on the dancefloor.
tell him that all he has to do is SWAY.

Re: Does anyone else have this problem
I enjoy dancing, but the FH likes to do what he calls a 'jig' - he basicaly bouces and moves his arms like he's running in place. I'm not sure there is a name for such movement. I don't think any dance instructor in the world would know how to cure him!

I could not agree more!
DH HATES to dance and did not even want the attention on him for the first dance (he said the song I picked was too long, that is how much he hates the spotlight on him), but I can't even explain how much DH surprised me that night. I love to dance so I had NO problem dancing with my friends and family while he drinks at the bar with the guys, but somehow (I am sure with a little help from Jack Daniel) he made it up onto the dance floor for about 2 dances. Nothing major, but at least he got on the video. Our agreement was that he would dance all the slow songs with me so at least he got on our wedding video, but when he got up there and danced the other dances, I was SO happy. He is the worst dancer in the world, but it was just great. He looked so happy being goofy! I could not stop thanking him the next day for dancing a couple of dances with me because I know he just did that for me and if it wasn't our wedding day he would never have done that (that was the first time in 13 years that I saw him dance!). So trust me, he most likely will dance. And if he doesn't, don't worry about it. You both will have an amazing day no matter what!

Re: Does anyone else have this problem
i hate dancing when there is attention on me and FH just hates dancing
he promised me all the slow songs - and thats about it - we are also making sure our DJ never tries to get us out on the dance floor or in the middle of any circles ( except maybe the tarantella bc no one REALLY knows how to dance to that anyway, ha ha)
BUT you shouldn't worry - FH is super shy, but when i caught hte bo-k at my cousin's wedding and he caught the garter, the DJ made him DANCE over to me. . . .you should have seen that boy with some help from all those Coronas, he not only DANCED but he CRAWLED on the floor over to me!!
i am sure you will both get caught up in the moment! but if you are nervous make sure you mention to your DJ to never pull the 'lets get our bride and groom in the center of the dance floor' bit

Re: Does anyone else have this problem
This sounds all too familiar. DH's line was 'I don't dance, I can't dance, I hate to dance, there is no point to dancing' until we took lessons. Not only did he dance the first dance with me (as well as many others), he also managed to dance with almost every single woman in attendance at our wedding.
