I dont mean when you are the one being showered - because getting presents can never be boring (although if you are registered - technically you know what you are getting - just not in which order)
I mean attending a bridal/baby shower - I've never been to one where they play 'games' so maybe that is it - but they just BORE me! Opening the presents is such a tedious experience considering you know each gift - i like the creative gifts though - those bring some life into the shower -

I've been to some with games and it's still boring. I do prefer baby over bridal just because the gifts are usually better/cuter. It's so nice to see when someone makes something and it's usually adorable.

i think it depends on the who its for and how the party is....
like i was very interested in my sisters one cause i liked seeing all she got, but i could see being bored if its someone i barely know...games probably help..

Yes, I do get bored at bridal/baby showers. But its something we have to go through> I had a great time at mine though!!!!

Totally Zzzzzzzz... when they are thrown like that. Whoever thought up the idea it would be fun to get a bunch of women together to watch another woman open gifts -- needed someone to define 'fun' for her.

I agree, they are boring and the games IMO make it worse!! Leave the gift opening for later and hopefully there is good company/food to make it interesting... Otherwise, prepare to be bored

Oh my- YES!!!
I went to a baby shower this weekend.
To be honest, I like the eating and socializing part, but I do not like the sitting around and opening gifts part.

Yes that is actually my point - I also went to a baby shower this weekend - ok baby stuff are cute- but seeing onesies over and over again - umm - i could go the store if I wanted to - I couldnt even get up to leave because it was impossible to go say bye to the mommy to be without having 20 women have to shift their positions -

I do get bored, unless there are other guests I haven't seen in a long time. I guess that's why I'm not bothering with a wedding shower!

lol well I agree.. but in defense for the people who have to open the gifts... it is a little boring for us too!! at my baby shower I had all these woman staring at me.. I mean tuns of eyes on me... waiting for their gift and peoples reactions and you have to ooh and ahh over every little thing so you dont offend people that you liked one gift over another...
eta - and its even worse when you have to stop every 2 seconds for pictures!!!

It depends on how much you like the person, I think. I loved my cousins, but have been to some where I could have fallen asleep.

I think I posted this once before but a friend requested on the invites that everyone wrapped their presents in clear celephane so that they were displayed on a table and instead of the bride opening everything people could walk past the table and see the presents themselves. They had a dj and danced and had a good time.
I am sure it got more than a few frowns from the older crowd but they friends thought it was a great idea since they werent bored with opening presents for 3 hours.
lol, guess its no fun when you aren't getting gifts right? I had fun at my sis in laws cause I couldn't wait for my neice to get here, I think it depends on whose shower it is. A sort-of-friend or distant family probally wont be fun but I cant wait for my sisters baby shower.
