Does anyone get there hair japanese or brazilian straightend?
i'm thinking of doing it since i will be on the beach for 2 weeks!

my best friend does- she gets it done in queens- i think its like around $400-$600, it says for like 6 months- if you want I can find out where she goes

thanks so much! i was going to go to a place in queens too! i was just wondering if i can straighted it on highlighted hair! lol i'm afraid my hair will fall out and i'll be balk bride!!!

I have been getting it done for 4 years now, and i love it.. the only thing is your hair isn't going to curl... so as long as your don't want curles for the wedding then go for it.... its the best thing i have ever done! love it! i go to the hair village in woodside queens and they charge 150-230

2 girls are my job get the brazillian. 1 goes every 6 months and one every 3. they both love it.

Some places wont do that on highlighted hair..and on dyed hair it fades the color alot..

FYI- it depends on the texture of your hair which one you should use . My MOH get gets the japanese , but she has VERY kinky hair . The brazilian is less harsh chemical -wise , but if you highlight your hair already, it might be overkill. The brazilian did not work on her hair

There is a product for Japanese straightening called I-straight, it has 3 strengths depending on your hair type, and there is one strength safe for highlighted hair.... i've had it done 3 times, lasts me about a year. and my hair is very highlighted... I've never had a problem with breakage or anything. It's great!

i didnt do japanese or brazilian but i just got it chemically straightened. it KILLED my hair only lasted for about 2-3 months and it was a pain in the @ss getting it done.
my hair wouldnt curl naturally like it used to for a whole year. it had a weird frizzy wave afterward

I would suggest not getting the brazilian straightening. I read an article where a woman died because she inhaled the formaldahyde they put in your hair while she was showering. It has some bad side effects on people if not done properly.

There is a new straightening system called Keratin Straightening or something that does not use formaldehyde. Its pretty new. My friend does hair and just took a class on this a few months ago. She said its like a super conditioning treatment for your hair and they recommend doing it right after coloring since it locks in the color. Shes had a few clients already and said it came out amazing. My friend is a health nut and would never use anything that is harsh or poisonous. She said she did not learn the other straightening methods because of the formaldehyde fear. As soon as the wedding is over I am getting my hair straightened.
