Does anyone have a Brown Gravy Receipe?

Im in need of a good brown gravy receipe. Everytime i try making it - either i put too much cornstarch, or brown sugar or soy sauce - the taste just doesn't work and I end up throwing it out.

Does anyone have a good brown gravy receipe that I could make from scratch for meats or rice receipes??
