Does anyone have a cheap cell phone plan they use just for emergencies?
I pay $35 a month and I NEVER use my phone. I want a really cheap plan to have a few minutes available in case of an emergency. Any recomendations?

Try the plans that are prepaid. I know my dad had one before he moved to florida.

I'm looking for a place or company that has that though. Do most cell phone companys have a pre-paid plan?

I don't think so, I think those are the kind where you buy the cards that expire, so you have to keep buying new ones. I think most companies did away with the cheapest plans--I know my aunt had a $9.99 a month which she is still on, but when I called they (VoiceStream) told me the cheapest is now $19.99.

Try going to a cell phone store, like Beep America, or Cell tell and ask them for an emergeny phone plan. They usually have plans with 200 minutes or less for $19.99 a month or less and a free phone. Scott

I just bought my parents a prepaid cell phone. It's thru T-Mobile and it was $75 dollars for everything - the phone, acitivation, and 225 mins that are good for one year.
I looked around and that was the best price I could find with a known provider.

Just buy a used cellphone off Ebay. All 911 calls are always free... even if you don't have a service plan activated.
