Re: Does anyone have a Living Room/Dining Room Combo?
my apt is like that now. To be honest, I don't really need to do anything to separate it....with the dining room table and chairs in that room, it's pretty separate already from the LR.

I have a combo room as well, and I actually never considered trying to make them look seperate. I guess the table and chairs give the dining room a 'dining roomy' look. I painted both rooms the same color with the same moulding... I like the look of it because it's a big sunny space.

My condo is like that...very open and everything flows. I have hardwood floors throughout...and there is also mirrors on the dining room wall (from the people who sold me that place). I'm not a huge fan of the mirrors...but they do make the place look much bigger...and it's big to begin with.

like luvsun our dining room has mirrored walls and we also have the the couches set up in a L shape with the back to the dining room. (Hope that makes sense) Like the back of the couch is the border line.

wow - I have a mirrored wall in my dining room too (from original owners) - I am not a fan either but keeping it for now and it does make the room look bigger. My dining room and living room flow together but they look like separate rooms even though we have the same paint color and moldings as well. But I kind of have an entrance way to the dining room and the living room in much longer so that helps as well. I was just writing because I was surprised to see so many people who have mirror on their dining room walls!

Ours is a combo room and we've never really tried to separate them. We just have a dining room set and a living room set. The colors coordinate so it flows.

Since our front door is in between the two 'areas' we have a tile walkway that break them up.

Re: Does anyone have a Living Room/Dining Room Combo?
We have a hi ranch, and the living room and dining room flow together, they are kind of in an L-shape. We did a lot of work to make them look separate. They have the same base and crown molding, but we painted them different colors and used a vertical modling to create a separation. We have a molding that spans the space and installed a curtain rod underneath the molding to hand swag curtains. Gosh, I should just post pictures because you probably have no idea what I'm talking about!

My fingers are crossed for you.
I think having the living room and dining room together is nice. In my parents old house, it was one big room seperated by a little wall which seperated the livng room and ding room.
Re: Does anyone have a Living Room/Dining Room Combo?
my parents have an L-shaped LR/DR combo...
they have hardwood floors...but have 2 different area rugs in each...they also have a one foot wall coming down from the ceiling (with a shelf on the DR side - for display) that marks the division

Re: Does anyone have a Living Room/Dining Room Combo?
We have a colonial, with an L-shaped LR/DR. We have yet to 'decorate' it...both rooms are still unfurnished. But, the plan is to have hardwood floors put in and then paint both rooms the same color. Furnishings will likely be complimentary to each other.

My DR walls were mirrored when we bought it too! This is so funny to hear that so many people have/had this too. We got rid of ours right away (along with the mirrored walls the BR, and the mirrored bathroom cabinet....but we still have the mirrored backsplash in the kitchen!!!).
Our LR/DR is a combo and it's all one color, same flooring. We don't try to divide it b/c we like how open the room is.
