we havent been able to sleep these past few nights...
the heat in our apt ****%%%$###@ it dries up our throats and stuffs our noses...
idk who is snoring more fh or me...SAD
anyway, i was thinking of buying a purifier (also read that they're good against dust bunnies!)
would it be better than a humidifier? i'm afraid that the humidifier might get too messy w/the water and all

Re: does anyone have an air purifier or humidifier?
a humidifier puts air into a room.
a dehumidifer removes air from the room. (this is the one with all the water)

once the heat goes on for the season, i HAVE to sleep with a humidifier!!!!! a purifier will not help with the dryness..... you need a humidifier... its puts moisture in the air. its not messy, you just need to clean it out every couple of weeks!

i think a humidifier would be better for what you need. i just put mine on last night and i felt a *little* better this morning. i have an upper respitory infection. but i also have an air purifier for my living room that i never use.

A humidifier puts moisture in the air, so it starts off filled with water.
a DEhumidifier draws water out of the air (like in a basement where it's damp) so it starts empty and collects water.
An air purifier draws dust and allergens out of the air.
If you're looking to solve your dry nose and throat problems at night because of the heat, your best bet is a COOL MIST humidifier (as opposed to a warm mist or vaporizer)
HTH.

Vicks is fine, but they're pretty simple devices so they're all pretty similar.

if you can go with a filterless one... they tend to be cleaner!

I agree, definitely worth the investment for filterless if you're going to use it all the time.

Re: does anyone have an air purifier or humidifier?
FH sets up the humidifier every night in our room- he says he feels a HUGE difference with it (he has really bad allergies and is very sensitive to the dry winter air). The only effect I feel is that I wake up with my hair frizzier. It really isnt messy at all. We have a small one and it lasts the entire night. They sell cute ones at BBB.

Re: does anyone have an air purifier or humidifier?
i have constant sinus infections.. (like 5 in one year) and now I have to go get an MRI but in the meantime my Dr told me I need a humidifier and it has helped me...no tremendously but it helps. I got it at BBB for $50...with a 20% coupon...Get one that you don'thave to fill up all the time! It's annoying!
